Help me choose a HU
Hey guys, my OEM HU is going nuts...(finally) and looking to upgrade(?) just a tiny bit.
As of now, I just want to change the HU, since that's the only non-functioning part of my car...
I came across this:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance
I know it won't be "audiophile grade", but would it do the job as something that plays CD, let me connect my MP3 player, and simple things like that?
It comes with a free HD radio module <-- Are those any good?
And lastly...are these HU's compatible? I was under the impression that all aftermarket HU's were compatible with a car...but my friend said otherwise, so just checking

What car do you have? That will determine what stereos you can get, based on space constraints, adaptability with upgraded factory features, etc. Also, what is your budget?
As for the hu choice, if you've got an Ipod, I'd suggest an Alpine. I had a 9884, and I've worked with the 9886 on several occasions, and they have some of the fastest connectivity to the Ipod that I've seen. My Pioneer is like 1/8 the speed of the Alpines. Plus the CDA's are coming down in price, so that should help you out if you're on a budget.

hehe sorry to not put enough info.
I have Acura CL-S 2001 w/ Navi.
Well the above link has a Clarion VZ309 and its about 139 shipped. I'm hoping to stay under $200 shipped for everything ^^ (I know it's a bit too low for audio system...but all I want is the basic xD )

I totally agree with mattastick Alpine is the way to go for ipod connectivity, i also have a cda 9884, its a very decent deck which has a lot of options and you can surely get 1 for under $200. To be honest with you i did not go through the specs of the Clarion deck that you found but all i can say is that Clarion makes top of the line car audio equipment, and it looks much better than my Alpine.
You can also check out Blaupunkt. And what are you going to use the deck for? Any Subs, amps?

you saw this on slickdeals right? im currently running the clarion cz509 w/bt builtin. its not the best brand you can get but its pretty damn good for that price. the menu is kind of hard to navigate but this is my second clarion deck. i love the brand and the only reason why i chose it over alpine was because of cost. i got both clarions for $100 brand new from frys when they went on clearance. no regrets on the clarion though. hope it helps
