Unhappy Head Units from Japan?

For awhile, I have been trying to get my hands on the Eclipse E5509avz Double DIN Headunit from Japan:

http://www.fujitsu-ten.co.jp/eclipse/avz/e5509avz.html

Currently, my contact in Japan is having problems.

Do any of you know of ways to buy headunits from Japan like the ones on this site?

Please reply soon.

eclipse

Those are the Eclipse Intergrated Audio/Video Systems 7301. I checked into those, they are around $1800-$2000 US. THey won't work that well since they open by tilting down and out which would hit our shifter. Very nice piece though, you can run video on the 5.8" motorized screen, dvd, tv tuner and navigation. Very cool. I am getting a single din Eclipse head unit instead.

The radio frequencies are the same. A couple friends of mine brought home some JDM Panasonic systems from their last trip to Japan. The radio works fine in the US.

I have the 7301 in my V6 Accord right now. I love it and don't want to part with the 2-DIN look. When the screen flips out, it only needs about 2" clearance. I didn't know the shifter in the TL-S was that close to the front center console. I will check into that, but I'm almost sure it would work.

In any case, if anyone has any connections to port over a JDM Headunit, please say so. I am willing to offer a 5% commission for anyone who can successfully get the unit i need into my hands. (I.E. for a $2000 unit, commission would be $100)

Thanks!

dammit.. you're right... the flip down screen will not make the clearance of the shift knob... i still want the unit tho.. i'll just have to find some ingenious way to use it

i was thinking of moving down the navigation screen to where the current receiver deck is and then mounting the new system in its place... does anyone know whetehr this is possible, or whether anyone has done something like this before?

thanks in advance
