Head unit removal - '99
What trim panels need to be removed first to get the head unit out on a '99 TL? My old Honda was easy 'cause you could see all of the screws. I figured one of y'all has done this before and probably made instructions......the Chilton manual instructions stink.
Thanks

I didn't know there was a Chilton manual for a TL. Only one I know of is the Helms.
You can buy one at www.helminc.com for $64 + shipping.

First off you need to remove the wood trim peices running down the sides of the console. Next you will see a lot of screws that are all visible. Don't remember how many off hand though. there are also 2 screws on the sides of the console towards the back end. If you move both front seats all the way up and look from the back you will see them. Also in the storage compartment under the littel carpet mat are 2 more screws you need to take out. Now the Storage compartment and cup holder section should be able to be pulled out. Then you will need to unclip the small side panels after you remove all the screws. The panel covering the sides of the radio need to come off. On the passenger side this is the panel right next to the glove box. It is just held in by clips to you have to just pull it. On the drivers side there are screw on the panel. You need to take out the panel under the steering wheel to see the screws. So you first need to take off the fuse box panel and remove the one screw there. Then pul on the panel under the steering wheel(held in by only clips) You will then see 2 screws for the side panel. Now all the radio screws are visible. You might be able to remove the radio with this much donw and with the parts of the console that has the shifter in it still in place. If you can't get the radio out yet then you will have to take out the bolts holding this peice in place. There are 2 bolts where this peice is connected to the body of the car towards the bottom.
I know these are gonna be hard to follow with no pictures, but hope it is somewhat helpful.
