Good price quote or not for IVA-W200 and install
Ok, so I go to Car Toys to get a install quote on an Alpine IVA-W200 for my 03 TL Type S with NAVI.
Here's what they told me:
Parts:
Alpine IVA-W200 = $900 ($799 at some online retailers )
XM Univ Tuner and Alpine XM Interface = $50 total for both (Good deal)
Custom Dash kit to match = $160
Install Charges:
HU Install = $250
Wire up factory sub = $65
**Rewire around Bose system = $125
Tax = $113.86
Total parts, labor and supplies = $1663.86
**I can't figure out why they would re-wire around my existing bose system. He said they would run new speaker wire to my stock speakers. If not, then I would be sending an amplified signal to another amplifier. Isn't the sub the only speaker that receives an amplified signal? Or is he right on the money if I want good sound?
I wanted to do this install myself, but after finding out I had to wire up the metra kit and it wasn't plug n play, I figured I'd suck up the money to let someone else deal with it.
Does any of this sound right or is that a fair price for the unit and all related install charges? If I buy the unit online for $799, Car Toys can't warranty it, but I assume Alpine has at least a year warranty on that.
Thanks!

I think he's got it right on the money. On the plus side, paying a slight premium to someone who knows what the heck they are doing is always worth it, and may save you a massive headache here.
uncald4 is the resident TL / bose expert, I'm sure he'll chime in. In the meantime, read the full DIY info posted at the top of the forum, there's a lot of info in there already about wiring around your stock system.
