Good car alarms......
I know people have their opinions on whether or not car alarms are really worthy :thief: but I want one (I guess for peace of mind..) and wan to know if anyone has a good one. Especially if you have a remote start and all those extra little goodies....Gimme some names and model numbers of the alarms if you have them....greatly appreciated...

Anything by Viper or Clifford. To me it's more about the reputation of the company. DEI, makers of Viper and Clifford are without a doubt the leaders in the alarm business. It's pretty much all they make.
I have the Intelliguard 9000 and I love it. I added the smartwindows module and battery backup siren. It works very well for me. There are a bunch of new alarms out from DEI, a lot with auto start.

If you don't mind, I'd like to jump in with a few questinos. If money was no object, what alarm system fits the following requirements best:
1) Uses factory keyfob
1) Highly reliable
2) Least amount of False Alarms without compriming security
3) Shock Sensor (adjustable sensitivity)
4) Tilt and/or motion sensor (adjustable sensitivity)
5) Battery backed up siren and/or operates the cars horn

I've done quite a bit of searching and it appears that the unit I'm considering with the extra sensors and modules is probably one of the best alarm systems available. And the quoted price seems to be a good deal as well.

If you are worried about false alarms do not go with a prox sensor. IMO, unless you have a convertible or open top jeep they are just a pain. I had one in my CL and ended up taking it out because it was so annoying. I would go with a viper 791xv if I were you and save some money. It's baisically the same as the cliffords but a little cheaper. Installed you are lookin 5-600 at a national chain possibly cheaper at a local shop. Also I've had pretty good luck with the Prestiege 996. Just something to think about.
