Front speakers

I own a 2001 CL and I recently bought a pair of 6.5" MB Quart component speakers (PCE 216) for the front doors. However, when I took it to Tweeter to have them installed, they told me that they don't fit in the doors; they said the tweeter is fine but that the midrange woofer was too big and din't fit in the existing door hole. I asked him if there was another model or brand of 6.5" speakers I could buy, but they told me that no 6.5" speaker would fit and said I must buy 5.25" speakers. They were very clear about this even after I insisted on the 6.5" speakers. This has got me confused since my brother owns a 1995 Honda Civic (much smaller car) and he has a pair of 6.5" speakers intalled on his front doors and on top of this, the sticky on the Stock Sound system information on these forums says that the original front speakers for the CL are 6.5" Single Cone made by Bose so this size must be ok. Does anybody have 6.5" spekers (other than the orignal ones) mounted on the doors ? Is Tweeter wrong when they say my only option for the front are 5.25" components?

Thank you in advance.

Almost everyone here has 6.5" mids in that location including me. They don't really know what they are doing, apparently. With most speakers, you have to design a lift ring. Most shops should be able to customize the hole fairly easily to get them to fit.

My Quarts and later, my bostons didn't want to fit. I just took a jigsaw and made the stock hole a little bigger. It didn't take much at all. Then I custom cut trim ring spacers and everything worked fine.
