Free air subs for 1st Gen CL??
I have a 97 3.0 CL w/ bose system. I was considering replacing the rear 6"by9" spekers with 8" free air subs. How difficult would this be? Would it sound good enough to be worth doing? The reson I am considering this setup is becuase I want the trunk space and want to try something different. Thanks.

I've done a lot of free-air subs, but...
1) They usually suck for rap and hip-hop
2) There aren't many free-air optimized drivers any more
3) Personally, I would look for a set of the Genesis 6x9 subs that cost like $300 a set and run them with a band-pass xover with a subsonic highpass at 40.

Rear decks vibrate and are generally not an ideal place for a serious woofer.
However, there's plenty of 01 TL owners like me here who'd be glad to sell you our old free air subs really cheaply! (1-ohm imedance though).
