Fixing a Leaking Box??
I had a custom enclosure made in our Honda Pilot probably a year or so ago. I used my local installer who usually does a great job. I have never been very happy with the sound of the small sealed enclosure but, thought that was all the could be done with the factory space. On further inspection, the enclosure is not fully sealed. I can push on the sub quickly and hear air escaping. The problem is, I can not find the leak. The enclosure is part fiberglass and part MDF and about the only part that I can get to with the sub in is the face. I can not access the sides or rear. My installer had to close his business and so taking it back to him is not an option.
So with all that said, can anyone recommend something that can be applied to the inside of the box surfaces to make it airtight. I used caulk on all the seems so I am pretty confident that is not it. I tried spraying the entire interior with rubberized undercoating and that seemed to have no effect. Any ideas would be welcome.

If you've sealed the enclosure the only other two places it could be are the terminals which can be sealed or the space between the sub and box. Are you using any kind of weatherstripping to seal the sub to the box opening?

I do not have any terminals. We just drilled a hole in the face of the box and ran a wire thru. I double and triple checked it and used sealant on both sides of it. It is not leaking there. I am not using any kind of weatherstripping but, I do not think it is there. It sounds like it is coming from the back portion. Could it be not enough fiberglass and leaking thru it?

i had a box a while back that was leaking like that from the holes where the sub was screwed it. I pulled the screws out (std. dry wall / wood screws)and replaced them with coarser thread screws and rubber washers. Seemed to fix the problem.
