Compared to some, this is a pretty mild setup...

Did some work on my car yesterday. Did some deadening, ran new KNU RCAS. Installed a limiter bass knob. Recarpeted the floor in the trunk and "dyed" the carpet in back to match. Today I installed my new 4 channel that i cannot run on 4 channels lol. Its an Autotek MM 75.4. Ive had the Profile amp since 2007. I just need to try and fix the RCA input. Here are pics!

hahaha. Surprisingly there was no smell. I was heating the back up with a blow torch for a second or 2 to get it sticky and my car is fine. I also didnt have any problems over the summer with it unsticking(the trunk and lid were done in the spring). But ive read/heard lots of these stories. Maybe im lucky?

I think it's the blowtorch that's keeping your peel and seal stuck to the trunk. Hope everything works out, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the box design and build...

You should see a competition up near Chicago. Everyone (basically) is running something AQ. I think in order to be on Team DOA, you have to have run a full AQ setup at some point and you basically have to still be running something AQ. I can only think of 2-3 guys on that team that aren't running something AQ.

Maniac Electric motors. No other company had something or was really willing to work with me. DC said they could do it but this was after i was told they had a bracket and alt in stock for 650, then i was told they didnt have anything for my car, then i called and they said they could do it but for 750.

Its a 180 amp alt though.

I wouldn't mind rocking a DC Power alt, if I can get it used from someone. The product DC puts out is awesome, just the CS and actually getting the damn thing is the hard part. If I have to go new, I'll be stuck between Mechman and XS Power. Mechman will be cheaper, but the whole Team XS Power deal kinda forces my hand there.

Yah, they told me about a month and from reading the horror stories, it could take longer. Mechman quotred me 500 dollars if they could have made me an alt, which i was surprised because theyd be basically making me one. Do Mechman and XS have bolt on alts for your car?

Yep. Both of them have bolt ons up to 220-250A, IIRC. F22/23 has the same mounting setup as an H22/23, so it's a pretty popular alt. And I recently found out that these alts also bolt up to J30's, if you've got enough clearance.

Put my new alternator in today. Voltage used to sit around 14.2 at idle, now its at 14.6ish, and about 14.7 when im driving. My voltage doesnt dip as much as it used to when using the heat, defroster, heated seats, and such. It wasnt nearly as bad as i thought it would be.

I need to figure out how to get another run of 0 gauge back to my trunk. I cant go the original route as that is just filled with other wires. I should be done around next week hopefully. I also got my amps so every things just sitting in my room, waiting for a home.

Finally finished everything up yesterday. I just need a longer RCA to link the amps so its not hanging down. I had to "modify" the trunk. That stupid support beam was in the way. I will get more pictures once i find my SD card for my point and shoot camera.

Ill probably make speaker rings this weekend and i might even put this stuff in Saturday. Ill post pictures of the install and what not. Forgive the picture quality, i lost my charger for my good camera

I knew youd like this fourthmeal. I must say, you are one of the reasons that I am doing this. I saw your recommendation to someone on here and decided to try it. The midbass look really beefy...i like this. Do you really think i should cross it that high? Im new to this but the frequency response on the mid bass stops at 2200 and the tweeter starts at 1350 so i was thinking about 2000 or so.

where did you get those numbers? Trust me, start at 3k. You can wiggle 500hz up or down from there. If you are talking about Fs of the tweeter, you usually double that number as your starting point.

I got the from the Parts express website under the frequency responce. Am i taking a literal meaning to this? Ill try it at 3k, obviously if im not happy I can adjust.

Yes, you were taking it literally. Anechoic. Of course nothing is anechoic at all. Start 3k, make sure to double-check phase and maybe test a few different ways. Always take notes as you go, your ears memory is bad so notes remind you of what you are hearing or not hearing.

What you're listening for is phase relationship issues. IE, is the vocal stage up on the dash, or in your lap. Is an instrument that is supposed to be coherent and direct more diffuse and spread out, or not? Play high quality music you know really really well, perhaps something you've heard on high quality earphones or on a quality home system, so you know the nuances. Take notes and remember that there are several phase relationships.

Phase adjustment on both speakers (woofer/tweeter) on one side relative to another and to the sub

Phase adjustment on both tweeters relative to the woofers and sub

Phase adjustment of one tweeter relative to the rest of the system

And the thing is, even though all phase could be "correct" physically with the positives and negatives where they should be, its possible they could be wrong acoustically (which is what matters)... they could sound better in a different configuration. That's why we test and take notes, and note the differences as each change is made. It is tedious, I know...but its like free enhancement.

Spent alot of time this weekend getting my front stage done. Using the 50.4 to run my front speakers and that old 2 channel is doing the rear fill. I might add a second set of comps in the rear deck...just a little something. Speaker rings werent that bad to make, but i broke my friends jasper jig so i had to use a jig saw. I love the way it sounds now.

I've posted a lot of designs, lol. I can't even remember all of them. If you found where I posted it, I may be able to remember some of the design info.

And yea, that setup looks pretty sick. The one reason I didn't want to do something like that was because of losing the entire trunk...

Ehh i already have no trunk...no spare, just enough room for a snow brush and for my road side bag. I cant wait to get this done and playing. Are you going to Slamology?
