F.Y.I. Adding a MP3 Player on TL/NAV 2001 Model
Hello Everyone,
This is some information I like to share with you all. I would like to thank everyone with their ideas and input on this website for adding an MP3 player to a TL. I wanted a solution so that I could have my whole CD collection (about 300+ CD's) on one device which I could play in my car. I was tired of forgetting to switch out the CD's in the Changer and did not like having a large CD holder which could be seen. So I checked out this website and read all the postings about adding a MP3 player and what my options were. I then found my MP3 player which is great. I was thinking about the iPod but I'm a PC user not a Mac user. The music sounds great in the car. I could not even tell it was coming from the MP3 Player because I tested it with the CD in and then played the same song on the MP3 player. What really made me happy was when I took the adaptor and cable to a Car Audio installer; once they were finished and I hooked up the MP3 player, the technician said the sound was great even with the stock speakers!
Installation: I had the Car Audio installers wire the cable through the center console and drill a hole big enough just for the cable to be next to the power outlet. This way no one would know I even have an MP3 player. With the remote that comes with the MP3 player, I thread it through the hole were the cup holder is so that can control the MP3 player. The Blitzsafe adaptor works too.
My Car Info:
TL3.2 2001 with Nav and CD Changer in the trunk.
MP3 Player Info:
Iriver H140 or iHP140
Adaptor / cable:
Blitzsafe: HON/AUX V.1D x
and
RadioShacks cable 6' Gold Series Y-Adapter Audio Cable
I hope this helps anyone who uses a PC, wants a MP3 player that holes many CD's with the model of my car.
