I am so lost. to this day i really don't know what the difference is between a 4ohm and a 2ohm sub.
Could someone help me understand what the difference is.
Thanks.

A 4ohm sub has a coil that is... 4ohms impedance.
A 2ohm sub has a coil that is... 2ohms impedance.

Referring back to www.bcae1.com, you need to get your basics down or hand this job over to a pro.
You base your ohm spec off the amp's load ratings suitable for it.

2 schools of thought on this one. 1 is if you have the amp first. Then you buy subs to match your amp. The other is buying your subs of choice first, then finding an amp to match. Personally, I like the 1st choice, because I'm rather partial to my Sundown amp. Then again, I can run it down to around .35 ohms daily without much worry so it's not a big deal what subs I get.
I disagree with you here, about handing it off to a pro. There are plenty of people that can and will help him here. If OP's willing to listen, we can teach him all he needs to know. Then there's 1 less idiot paying retail for car audio.

I share your sentiment against retail stores. A pro need not be a retail shop though. What I'm conveying here is that you need to know your basics before you move forward here. Hence my push for the bcae website.
