DVD-A Copies
Does anybody have any luck making copies of DVD-A disks to play in your car. I tried with Verbatim DVD+R with no luck. What software did you use to copy it? Thanks

Look for threads in 3G TL by Adobeman.
There are also a number of DVD-A threads in this list of DIY/FAQ's: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-garage-faq-3g-tl-newbies-553554/

Making copies is whole other issue. Some DVD-A's (about half, if not more, in my experience) are "watermarked" and the copies will play for ~15 seconds then go silent.
There is discussion on this as well. Use the search term "verance".
That term will turn up a couple of DVD/DVD-A Burning threads as well.

Thanks Bearcat. That one answered my questions. First of all I need to be using DVD-R disks. Secondly, if my DVD-A's are watermarked I'm screwed. The ones I have are too precious to leave in my car.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this. It's driving me crazy. The threads about the topic I've read so far have to deal with ripping audio off of DVD-A's or creating them from mp3's. I just want to make a copy without degrading the fidelity of the DVD-A.
I've tried using DVDFab which has always been a trustworthy program form me. The instructions indicate it can clone a DVD-A which I've tried. That requires a DL disk so I've had to find DVD-R DL which is hard to find. I found RIDATA disk of this type and they don't seem to work in the car, but they do work in my DVD player.
I've also tried just copying the DVD-Audio off the disk which DVDFab apparently allows you to do and write it to a DVD-R single layer disk and still no dice. Same as above, it works at home, but not in the car. I'm annoyed because this was one of the deciding factors in purchasing this car. I still like the car though and don't regret the purchase.

FWIW - I checked the DVD-A that I had made (some copies of store-bought DVD-A, some "home made" from WAV).
I have used both DVD-R (single layer) and DVD+R DL with success. Beyond the watermark thing (which I think is undefeatable), I think your issue is with either the copy/authoring software or the burner, not the disks necessarily.
I don't recall how I made the direct copies. Might've been Roxio or Nero and just made an image, then burned the image to the blank disk. But it's been quite a while and I don't know for sure.

I got something to work. Un'freakin'believable. I had to use DVDFab to clone the disk which creates an ISO in a temp folder. However, the burn engine for DVDFab to burn that ISO doesn't work in the car. Then I used Nero to burn that ISO onto a DVD-R DL and BINGO! BTW, Nero ISO image and burn didn't work in the car or DVD player.
