Does anyone have a 15" subwoofer in their 2nd gen TL

I was wondering if anyone had a 15" subwoofer in their 2nd gen TL. And if so do they fit alright, and is there enough trunk room to accomadate the box it would take to utilize the sub correctly.

I have a 15 type R in my CL, it fits fine but if you have navigation it gets tricky, i had to build a special box to fit it deeper in the trunk so it would look ok, i have about 1 inch clearance from the sub to the navigation.

It actually sounds pretty damn good with the bose, neither is too overpowering which is a problem i had in my other car. The noise cancelling material throughout the acura does a pretty good job of containing rattles and only improves sound quality without muffling all the bass. My only complaint is how it sounds on the outside b/c it doesnt have 4 bolt holes for the licence plate it only has two and that makes an annoying rattle.

thats the clearance ive got

an easy fix to the plate problem is to use some rubber tube behind the plate so that it angles the plate a bit, so that the bottomm of it is off the car a bit and if the plate is not touching the car you don't get any rattling. works like a charm and its cheap as hell

I used to use foam tape but that sounds a lil better im going to try that when it gets warmer out, if the temp is below 35 degrees i lose all motivation to do anything to my car unless its neccesary lol, i hate not having a heated garage

I dont remember the exact number, nor do i remember the dimensions i just know i went to alpine and looked at specs for the sub and looked at specs for a sealed enclosure then i built the box to the max spec. I used the formula and it is fine, if you think that box is small, you should have seen my older one.

well for one..it's sealed...which is a no no for the type r..and that is what? 2 cubes? which is half the size recommended for a 15 inch type r..put it in the right box and it'll sound so much better

Yeah eggy dont take it personally but im gonna follow alpines guidelines for a box rather then yours, 3.5 to 4 cubic feet? Do yourself a favor go to alpines website, look up the SWR-1542D reference manual, page 4 you will find the optimum Sealed and Vented dimentions. 1.7 to 2.5 internal volume for sealed(Mines 2.3) and 2.9 for ported. If you are telling me Alpine is lying to their customers on their specs so their merchandise does'nt sound as good as it should, well then you have a problem

I guess it depends on what you are going for. Sound quality or loudness, I preffer quality and loundness I dont know what you are going for, but sealed is for quality and ported is for loudness i preffer sealed but keep in mind this is just my

Bah, haha you guys should see my trunk the entire thing like....pumps outwards shakes up and down, it freaking rediculous im waiting for it to just explode off the car haha. But seriously do you guys know what makes the most rattle so i can fix it? I already fixed the plate i tried adding foam to every place the trunk makes contact with the car but no go. Im pretty sure 80 percent of it is from the lock, how would i go and make it so the lock doesnt make any noise?

with foam tape there is still contact between the plate and the car...if you angle the plate a bit you remove the contact points and you don't get any rattle if you do it right. I did this in my old sentra and the trunk would rattle but not the plate.

True dat. especially if you have spoiler. I have my whole trunk completely covered in three layers of edead V1SE and it still doesnt stop my trunk from rattling.

Try and adjust the rubber stoppers on the trunk lid to lower the resting height.

I havent tried to adjust the stoppers, nor deaden the trunk. I put foam where the stoppers touch and all along the bottom where the lid meets back bumper. As far as plate goes i made an x of double sided tape and stuck on 3 millimeter foam then screwed it down and no more plate rattle.

Louder at lower frequencies but you would lose control over the dynamic range of your woofer. The TYPE-R sounds amazing in a sealed enclosure.

not always true...i put on the wings west flush mount spoiler and it actually stopped most of the rattle...but in my case i didn't have a spoiler on the car at all, and the added weight pushed the lid down now i barely have any rattle, my plate rattles more than my truck
