Red face Do I need a high performance alternator?

I have a Rockford 1100A2 into 2 12" Rockford Power DVCs and when I turn them up my idle drops causing my car to hop a little bit while I'm driving, it's annoying. I have one Capacitor also. I probably need an alternator, right? I plan on adding another 1100A2 soon so that's gonna make it worse. Are Stinger alternators direct bolt-ons? Can I use one battery for everything or do I need an isolator and another battery just for the system?

I'd personally run another battery with an isolator and a high current alternator. That's a lot of power you are gonna be pushing, and even for sound quality, you are better off with more current.

My setup in my last car (1994 Eagle Talon TSi) had the following setup.

2 Punch 200.2 Amp
1 Punch 240.4 Amp
4 Punch 12" DVC Subs
2 1 Farad Monster Caps
0 Guage wire from battery to power block

This is all with a stock battery and (very small) stock alternator.

Of course I had more, Rockford Fosgate Symmetry unit, mids, highs, 6x9's etc., but I just listed the power hungry parts.

With this setup, I had no dimming of the lights, no change in the idle or anything like that. The bass never diminished after cranking it for a while or anything either.
Maybe I just got lucky with my car, but I would try another stiffening cap and a nice thick wire 0/1 guage from the battery before doing the extra battery. I have posted some pics here in case you don't believe I put 4 12" DVC's in a 94 Talon.

Good Luck!

Cool pix! Looks nice. I spoke with Streeteffectz about my power problem and I'm gonna try to get the alternator rewound, run thicker cable and get another cap. If that doesn't help then I'll add another battery.
Thanks for the info!

in my system i pull 720 for the subs and 400 for the fronts, and i'm ok with 2 caps and no extra battery or a high amp alternator...

i threw in that kind of amp in a lil integra and it was draining it bad almost making the car stall when the bass hit all i did was give it a big gel battery and set everything straight and i added another 800watt ppi for voice and not one dim or prob.
