diamond audio
To those who can help me out here a lil.. well i am lookin to upgrade my speakers.. and i have read about the diamond audios .. some of you's talked about the m661 but i was searching for them and the cheapest i can find is about 220 for a pair.. i was wondering what is the difference between these and the m361i.. is it that much of a difference? or is the difference not too subtle......... thanks
|
first off you get what you pay for... the m661 will give you a better midbass response and higher power handling than the m361I... not to mention that the m361I are coxials and the m661 are components so yes there will be a pretty big difference in sound between the two... i assume that you plan on adding an aftermarket amp as well... if not dont even bother upgrading to either of these speakers because you will not get desirable results...

my boss has all diamond audio speakers and woofers in his yukon. the highs are awesome, but i am not too thrilled about the woofers. the highs scream and hurt your ears easily. very nice.
|
ive got the 6 1/2 M3 components, very nice. but they have titanium tweeters and hurt your ears with certain music. at least go with components. if you want to keep it basic the m3's are great but id go for the m6's if i could do it over
|
i would definately go with the m6 components with the silk dome tweets...
|
I have the M661 components and love them. I replaced Image Dyanamics 5.25" Chameleons and think the Diamonds are alot better sounding.
|
hmm from the sounds of this.. i guess the m661 are better.. i mean might as well do it once and be happy with it.. and not be like.. oh.. maybe those were better.. yes i am going to power it with an aftermarket amp... for the m661's.. what kind of power am i looking to get?
i am planning to do them myself.. if anyone have any advice.. i'd appreciate it.. thanks.. |
oh i forgot to ask.. does anybody know where to get them for cheap?
the cheapest i found was like close to 200.... thanks again |
I got mine for $210 shipped brand new so, $200 is pretty good. I power mine with a JL 300/4. Right now I am using the front channels with 75 x 2 but, as soon as I get some y adapters, I am going to bridge my amp and put 150 x 2.

Hmmm....I've heard that the latest Diamond Audio speakers aren't as good as past models made in the late 90's. Has anyone experienced in quality issues with them?

so i decided to go with the components m661's in the front..what do u guys suggest in the back.. the m361 or m361i .. not so sure about the difference.. and what mtx amp do u guys prefer,??
|
personally i would go with the hex s600 in the front and the m361I in the rear... but that is just me... but there is really no use putting components in the rear doors... oh by the way that is the difference in the m361 and m361I... oh if you get the m661 i would suggest to get the m661s... the ones with the silk dome tweeters...
|
so the difference between the m361i and the regualr one m361 is the silk tweeters? its kinda hard to find the m661s.. i can find the m661's but not the m661s... does the silk tweeters make a big difference.. cause if they do.. i can spend a little more time and save up that extra 100 bucks in difference... and the same between the s600a and s600s is the silk vs aluminum right?
thanks for the advice SHAWHITE.. |
the difference between the m361 and m361I is component vs coxials... and yes there will be a noticable difference in sound with the silk dome tweeters vs the aluminum but who knows you might like the brighter sound of the aluminum... me personally i like the smooth response of the silk dome tweets...
