LOL.

There is no such thing as a proper generic ported box.

Listen, if you aren't going to do your homework on this stuff, just go buy a 1.2-1.5 cubic foot sealed box, polyfil stuff it, and call it done.

If it would have been that easy and cheap I would have done that but they are charging me $1030.00 for 1 type-R sub, 1 mtx amp, and 1 box.

I said that about the box. Since you have your stuff. A box should be under 65 or so. Since you have no idea about audio You should be happy with a simple prefab ported box. Just get one made from mdf not particle board.

How come you bought that stuff when people with more experience recommended other, higher quality things. I mean, I'm brand new to car audio (never even done a single install) and I wouldn't touch some of that stuff.

I hope you're happy though. Just seems silly to ask for help then ignore it and say "too late I already bought it!"

Actually I did listen. I went to caraudioclassified.com where mattastick told me to go. After reading around and seeing what there selling. Most people there seem to have and like the Alpine Type-R and just want a bigger amp to power them. I've even posted around and asked around. I settled with a decent amp and I think I got a decent sub as well.

I saw eggyhustles selection of the SSA subs and those are rated at 300rms and selling for $125 plus shipping which is about $30 bucks to NY, and then for every package I receive I have to pay an extra $5 at the UPS store which means it would cost a lot more then purchasing everyone at one place.

Fourthmeal's been really helpful with designing the box and everything and I'll definitely consider doing that. I just want to install a prefab box and work with that for maybe a month. I just have to spend time actually building the sub and I have work and crap to do as well.

I'm not saying any of your things are wrong and I'm definitely sure those subs and amps that you recommended to me are great, but I'd end up spending more money on shipping, UPS charges, customs, and taxes then the actual product if I ordered from separate places.

Like I said before. I heard the Alpine Type-R and I really enjoyed it and as many people have said. Once it's tuned and the box has been made. It could play amazingly. I just don't understand why you guys are so judgemental about everything.

They don't sell the line out converter, but the only thing was I never go to hear any of those subs. If I could hear them then it probably would have changed my mind.

Lets just lock this pointless thread up. It's going to go no where the op asked for advice, got it didnt do as advised, but is happy with his choices. Would any of us be caught dead with the gear chosen, no but he's happy. So it's done. Lets move on.

Audio equipment is a personal opinion since everyone's hearing is different. I admitted that your selection was good but I felt that something else sounded "better" because I could actually hear it instead of just seeing someone's personal opinion online. Somehow you just can't get over that.

Don't be too full of yourself. This is just going into one car. I do have other cars that I can start a project with...
