CD changer gives error ER-E1
I tried to eject a CD last night, and it failed to eject. I ended up getting all but 1 or 2 of them out, but now, when you press the CD button it says CHEK for a few seconds, and then ER-E1 (which is not in the manual). There is no sound (i.e. electric motors moving, etc.)
Has anyone had this experience - and is there a quick way of getting those discs out?

Three Wheelin'
If the disk door is open try taking another disk and gently push the edge of it under the stuck disk. This sometimes helps to nudge the stuck disk closer to the eject/load wheel. Also, many people have complained that using CDRs can cause problems because they are a little thicker than mass recorded disks. good luck.

I went to go look. The loader door's not open, and when I flip it open I see what looks to be the tray/holder of the CD is on a wierd angle and not aligned with the door.
I have that bad feeling that my head unit is screwed...

Yeah, if multiple commercial disks are sticking on you, you should get the dealer to replace it. I've pulled stuck disks out with a hemostat without damage, tho. So you might try that as a temporary fix.

The wierd thing is that I can't see any disks at all. I'm thinking that the original CD I tried to eject only came partially out of whatever slot they put it in in the changer - and the thing that moves it up to the player got stuck.
Oh well - off to the dealer....

I just go the same error code this weekend. THe CD changer was changing between CDs when all of a suddent it stopped and gave me the error code. I am taking it to the dealer but I am not sure why this has happened, AGAIN. You see, it also happened right after I bought my car last June

Old thread - but as I remember, you could see the mechanism that moves up and down to load CD's was on a weird angle.
They had to replace the head unit and mail the CDs back to me.

depends on how comfortable you are with electronics. do not try if you are squeamish
i took my radio out when nudging with another cd didn't work.
the front facia pops out easily
i unscrewed the top portion of the unit
to reveal the cd magazine.
i unhooked 2 tension springs on each side of the unit and was able to extricate each cd.
i replaced the springs and screws and was off to listening to my cds again.
i repeat
don't try this if you're not electronically inclined. i've been taking apart small electronics since i was 10 but i'm no expert : )

hey guys easy fix once the hitting stops working!!- disconnect the radio fuse and put the sterio "on" a couple of time so all the juice is out, then put the fuse back in-you will hear the cd changer checking for cds as normal, then put the code in and enjoy! did it this morning myself after mine got stuck in half open possition for a week.

Similar problem on my 2008 MDX
I am having a similar problem on my 2008 MDX Base model. I don't get any error codes, but about half the time, if I have a cd playing and hit another button to change to a different cd, the player will change to the new cd but then just say "DISK 2 BUSY". It will sometimes stay like that for several days. It won't let me change, load, or eject anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hey velvetlevel.
I had this error few times and i tried to use the fix you had mentioned. I took the fuse out and i tried to put the stereo on and it working and did this few times and then put the fuse back in and it never asked for the radio code.
Also i made a mistake thinking there was a relay for HU and took out no.8 on the driver side and now i have SRS and engine light on. Do i have to take it to the dealer and pay them $49.95 to reset it or is there a way i can reset by unplugging the battery. any help would be appreciate it.

Thanks that helped and also unplugged the battery and i think that also reset the engine light and the cd changer which was the original problem.

I've had the same problem and still do. I haven't tried the fuse trick, but will, it seems good. What I do and most of the time after about 10 min. is keep hitting different CD number and track number buttons, along with the load and eject button, with out letting it get to the error message. Most of the time, after 10 min, it will glitch and start working again. The cd player will work normally usually unless you change the cd alot. Hope this helps and thanks for the advice about the fuse.

I have exactly the same problem, even though I did let the joice out and then put the fuse back. I even disconnected the battery and still no luck.
Hey i tried this, but i forgot to turn it on to let the juice out. I don't know if that my problem, but now when I turn on the radio and use the cd player (I had one cd in there already) it says that all the Cd places are taken and then it displays: "CHEC", then "ER E1". What do I do?!?!
#29
When I first had this problem, unplugging the battery worked, hitting it sometimes worked but now just "chek" er messages and shows all cd spots are full. I tried the fuse thing to no avail. What I am wondering is the comment about letting the juise out. I have taken the fuse out when the car is running (with radio on) and when the car is not running. How do you turn the radio on as the post says when the fuse is out? Anyway nothing worked. (door is not open). I wanna play my cds or at least get mine out. Help..

mine was doing the same thing but my door wasn't opening. I quick jab/slap on the side jarred it loose. I then sprayed some electrical cleaner on the inside. It hasn't been a problem since

The hit the side trick worked before but not now. Use to work to unplug the battery, no more. Fuse idea didn't work. Hitting all the cd numbers, forward, eject, load doesn't work. Not sure what to do now. Just buy aftermarket cd player I guess. I liked this 6 cd player in the dash instead of the changers in the trunk but it has been a problem for a year.

I've got the same trouble a couple of time, I bought an air spray can and clean (only pressure air) the unit, after that it work fine but not for long, this method worked two or three time until I decide not to feed my radio with nice cd, and then I change the unit...

Old thread, I know. I just replaced my stereo in my 03 TL. THEN realized the old unit was not bad. Don't do what I did, before you do anything know that Err1 will display after 10 (I think) failed security code entries. So, step 1 is to disconnect power to the radio by fuse or battery terminal, wait a few minutes and let it reset. When it comes back on it will ask for the security code which is entered using the preset keys. This code can be obtained from your dealer, just give them the stereo serial # and they will give you the code. To get the serial # hold preset buttons 1 and 6 then turn on the stereo. Disregard any alpha characters, put the two numbers together in order, and you have the serial #. Hope this helps others to avoid spending needless fliff on an unnecessary replacement stereo!

I had the same issue with my '02 TL.
i left it alone for a few days, then tried to eject the CD's. Over the course of a week I got them all out.
had a local shop install a USASPEC iPod adapter, and now just use that.
it was a LOT cheaper than fixing/replacing the factory unit (I don't trust eBay used units) and much better functionality.
Just my $0.02.
