In case my soundstreams ever die....

All I know is after 15 years my Soundstream amps are still the cleanest I've ever heard. For those who know, what's your opinion on the cleanest amps out there now - not necessarily talking about power.

I'm always a big fan of what i run, McIntosh! but from what i've heard it doesn't get any better than Brax.

BTW current Soundstream is just the brand - the original company went broke through bad management and the assets got bought.

Europe has a few very expensive amp companies - Sinfoni, Brax, and a couple more, and more reasonable but still pricey there's Audison, DLS, Genesis. I think the best amp company in the US anymore might be TruTechnology. All these are kinda small audiophile companies.

Best mass-market company to me is JL "slash". Zapco and ArcAudio have fans. Linear Power is still around and sounds good. Never heard Elemental Designs amps.

do the brand of amps really make that big of a difference in sound quality? right now i have an alpine amp powering my speakers, would i notice an improvement by switching to high end stuff?
