the light still dims when the bass hits hard, so what happened? do i have to fix the problem using an alternator or capacitor? or can the problem be fixed some other way?

how did you wire the cap? how much current does u'r amp draw? 1 farad might not be enough. i have an alpine 1507 and had 1 cap. the lights dimmed slightly. so i added another cap and seem to do the trick. if you have the $$$ i'd got with a new altinator.

Yes, it is a good idea first to make sure the cap was correctly wired in parallel (+ to +, - to -)...a cap in series is an interesting thing to see indeed.
"the light still dims when the bass hits hard, so what happened? do i have to fix the problem using an alternator or capacitor? or can the problem be fixed some other way?"
If the lights still dim you are still seeing a voltage drop as a result of peak pull...so you need to make sure your current draw is less than your alternator output, including the car electronics...you could use a little multimeter, or just check with your manufacturer as to the peak draw of your amps...if you have less draw than input, then you're ok and just need another cap or two wired in parallel...my favorites are the 1.5F Lightning Audio Digital Storms...always work for me. Otherwise you'll be looking at an alternator upgrade (see my other post).

Did you make sure you did in fact wire up the cap properly? I've attached my system diagram so you could see how I wired mine. If in fact your lights are still dimming, you may need an alternator upgrade (you can check to make sure if you have a multimeter). If your system, with the ignition system and other car electronics, pulls near or at the max of the alternator, then yeah upgrade it. That is what I am doing, and I have a groupbuy going. a cap wired in series might not even work at all...
a cap wired in series with an impedance load will imitate on open circuit right after DC steady state... the result will be little to no current
make sure its wired in parallel and keep the ground wires as short as possible. charging??? it shouldn't even take a second.

That's true...but it's not just a strict impedance load...it's a variable impedance load...but unfortunately this forum doesn't like ascii...I can make a drawing later...
