I have my speakers out right now (fabbing spacers today and mocking up the install.
The mounting depth of the speaker is: 1.5" (from sheet metal to bottom of magnet).
Total speaker depth is: 2 5/8" deep.

Okay. The speaker sticks through the sheetmetal into the door by the "mounting depth" of 1.5".
The overall height of the speaker is 2 5/8".
So, if you mounted the stock speaker, it would stick INTO the door at 1.5" and out of the door by 1 1/8".
Basically the stock speaker has a built in plastic spacer in it.

Do the stock speakers have any labels or markings that would indicate a model number, a db rating, a power rating (RMS or peak)?
