Calling All JL Audio Owners
I have a 2003 TL and im looking to install a new sub in my car. I already wired the car for my last system (which was a complete failure, i tried to go extreme low budget, that didn't work). Now im looking to spend some money and get a JL 500/1 amp and a JL 12w6 v2 sub. My questions are, is the full JL system worth it?, would it be better to get a 10w7? and should i buy a JL brand box or have someone make me one to JL Specs. Thanks alot guys, btw i listen to mostly rap so i want this to bump and sound clean at the same time. Thanks again

listen to all 4 series of speakers (tr, vr, xr, and zr). see which ones you like. there are other brands of speakers that you might like better. their amps are very good (the "/" and the "e", now "a" series). the 500/1 is awesome, i have had one powering a 10w3v2 in a stealthbox for 4 years. never ran out of power, and the w6 or w7 will be cleaner and louder. jps

I haven't touched the stock system in my 06 TSX yet, but I have the 300/4 and 500/1 in my 06 GLI, along with a 12w6v2. Sounds great!
The amps are 3 years old, originally installed in a 2003 Mazda6, then a 2004 Mazda RX-8, and still work fine. In fact, the last install had the amps installed under peg/board and carpeting and still functioned perfectly, even in 95+ degree temperatures in Florida. There's a lot to be said for reliability. The amps are designed to put out the same power at 4 ohms as at 2 ohms, so they are extremely versatile.

Yeah, if you lsiten to mostly rap, the 10w7 will suit you well. The 12w6v2 is a great sub, but you'll get more boom from the dub7. Go for all JL, there stuff is top notch and the slash amps are built like tanks.
