Bluetooth phones
Does any one of these phones stand out as being first choice? I have looked at all the specs and they all basically look the same to me, but then again I am so expert.
Thanks
Nokia 6310i
Sony/Ericcson T68i
Sony Ericcson T610/616
Siemens S55/56

I don't have a bluetooth phone (yet), so am following all these discussions closely. According to on-line reviews (both "expert" and consumer) there seems to be the following comments on the phones you mentioned:
Nokia 6310i: Compared to the others, it has better RF performance and longer talk/standby time. But it is larger and heavier.
Sony/Ericcson T68i: Now discontinued (replaced by the T6** series) but still available. Good bluetooth implementation.
Sony Ericcson T610/616: More features (than the others and most currently available cell phones), not as good bluetooth implementation as the older T68i, poorest RF performance.
Siemens S55/56: Features similar to the T68i. Smallest and lightest but worst battery life of the group.
To answer your question, no I don't think there's a single model that is "the first choice" for everyone. After reading everything I can find, I'm of the opinion that there are significant disadvantages to every bluetooth phone currently available and will probably wait for the next generation of phones due out soon which includes the Motorola V600, Nokia 6820, a couple new SE's, and the Panasonic X70. If I got one now, my first choice would probably be the Siemens since long battery life isn't that important for the way I'd use it (recharging in the car much of the time).

I have just got the Nokia 6310i - its seems a great phone although its quite big compared to the Sony. The few reviews I found and comments from a phone salesman helped make my decision.
One minor issue though is that I dont have the car to try it on yet - another 10 days for that - sigh.

Anyone know if the Motorola V600 will work with the Bluetooth in the TL? Any guesses when the V600 will be available from AT&T Wireless? I'm currently with Verizon, but it looks like I have to change providers to get Bluetooth.

Call Display
Does anyone know if you have to subscribe to the call display option from your service provider in order for the phone number to show up on the dash for incoming calls? The packages I can get have this feature as an option with the cheaper packages.
Thanks

i have ordered the T610 and then i will try it out and see how it works...the way i look at it, you have to look at this from a realistic point of view...how often are you in the car and on the phone...do you make majority of your calls when you are not in your car (in that case get a phone that has a longer battery life)...if you commute alot and are in the car for a long time then get one that has the best blue tooth reception so that way you can use it in the car...u have to look at your lifestyle and decide what's the most important feature to you (battery life, looks and features, reception and so forth...) since i have t-mobile i had to get the T610...it's not a bad looking phone and it has good graphics and lot of other features...i am not sure about reception though becuase i don't have it yet, i should be getting it later on today...but ya, just look at your lifestyle and decide because they are all good phones...

I'm using the Siemens S56 with my '04 TL and the Bluetooth capability works fine. This phone is very small and light, but am told it doesn't have the longest battery life.

But will the numbers show up if I don't get the call display feature from my provider, or would the mid show something like "unavailable"?

Did Acura say they know for sure it will not work? I know it's not on their list of phones that are known to work, but just because it's not on the list doesn't mean it won't work, just that Acura hasn't officially tried it.
Please don't tell me I have to switch to AT&T! :wow:

fuque - I pushed them pretty hard on the 270c. Acura said that although the version of bluetooth is ok, the 270c does not have the correct bluetooth handsfree profile. They acknowledge receiving many calls on the 270c because of verizon.

I HAD a Sony/Ericsson T68i . Keyword HAD. It has great features, but has many shortcomings with AT&T as a provider. With the keylock on, the phone can still shut off and turn on in your pocket. When the phone comes back on the keylock will reactivate, but while the phone is initializing it can still call out to the last dialed number. Sony and Ericsson said that this is a convenience. I say it is a mistake. Also, the T68i is horrible if you are in areas that don't have a strong signal. I wish I had as good luck with it as some of you have had.

The big words here are [b]firmware upgradep/b]. I have owned many bluetooth phones including the 6310i, 6600, 3650, P800, P900, T68i, T610, etc. Check out this thread... I have contributed a good amount of information.
