Better Alternator

I have a 2001 CL-P. Im getting ready to run my system ~1500 watts rms. Going to upgrade the BIG3 and battery soon. My question is > Can I swap in a CL-S alternator (120amps vs 105amps) with no or little modifiction? Also are there any other oem+ plus alternators that will work on my car?

Thanks Jeff

Mechman. They're some of the best aftermarket alternators you can get. I know they quoted me a 175A (125A at idle) alt for $375. I'm sure they'd have something for your newer CL.

As for your swap, I doubt it'll help much. Your better bet is to just get an aftermarket one, and call it done. Although with only 1500w, you shouldn't need to upgrade a 105A alt... I'm running more power than that with an 85A alt, and my voltage is solid...

Thanks for the info guys. However I am more interested in the CL-S alternator since I can find one for ~$200. Has anyone ever swaped a CL-S alt onto a CL-P or know if its a simple swap?

It's a waste of $200... If you're going to upgrade your alt, you might as well save the money and do it right...

Definitly a waste of $200 since your only going to pick up 15 amps. Also I bet those 15 amp are not at idle, were you need them. You wanna spend $200 you can buy 1 sick batt that will probally benefit you more than the type s alt.
Also I've run 1600wrms with underdriven pulleys with no problems.Actually I've run 3200w rms but I can tell there' a serious need for more juice so I am careful.
