I have an old headunit iwould like to power up and test out before I try and sell it on ebay and I was wondering if there was any ways to power it up to a 12v source rather than hooking it up to my cars battery. It is too cold outside for that.

sure do you have a dc power supply laying around...

 

Use a Car battery charger, plug it into your wall inside, set the switch to the correct voltage and then just run the wires for the power. You might have to ground it somewhere.
