Basslink help (TSX)
I just finished installing my basslink. I tapped the rear 6x9s for the line level inputs, and it works great.
The problem I am having is that when I turn either the car or radio off, then the sub keeps going (just a loud sound). It is almost like it is either getting a signal from somewhere or not turning off.
Can anyone Help?

Sounds like you have the REM terminal on your sub amp wired to a live circuit instead of an ignition controlled circuit. Do you have a 12volt tester to check if the remote lead turns off with the car?

Are you using the RCA or speaker inputs? If your using the speaker inputs, Set the basslink to auto turn on. In this mode the unit will remain powered for up to 10 minutes after you shut the car off. I've timed my 2 basslink's & it's more like 4 minutes.
If your using the RCA's then set the turn on to off & use the remote terminal. And as stated connect it to a switched power source that turns on/off with the ignition.

the power I ran straight from the battery, and grounded to the trunk under the mat where something else is grounded.
I tapped the rear 6x9's and am using the speaker inputs. The problem is that when I turn off the radio I still get sound from the sub.
note* I had this in my bmw, and used the same setup, and once the radio or car was off, the sub was quiet. But stayed on for about 4 min

I ran 8ga power down the right side of the car, there can't be any interference for the speaker cables cause they are just loose in the trunk till I figure this out. I will try another grounding point and see what happens

Here is what I found,
I have grounded it to the spars tire well. Using a tester, I have found that even when the power is off, there is still power coming through the ends of the speaker level inputs.
When I unplug the speaker level inputs on basslink, the noise stops, so the power and ground are good.
Any suggestions on what to test next?

I am, by no means, an expert on this...I *do*, however, have a BassLink in my TSX. I occasionally got a little sound after turning off the car, but it went away after I went over my settings on the BassLink itself. Basically, there are about a gazillion tiny knobs that all adjust sound level, crossover, etc. I had the gain set pretty high, and when I turned that down a bit the after sound went away. I also put the ground on it's own (using same guage wire as the power cable) to a spot on the rear shelf that I sanded down to bare metal, which eliminated a minor buzz that I was experiencing.
If you are using the external level control (mine is located in my console), you can set the gain pretty low and still crank up the sub when you want to. Also check the phase switch...I had some pretty substantial muddiness and occasional boominess...carefully setting the BassLink and flicking the phase switch eliminated it.
One final thing to check...make sure your speaker connection cables don't have any bare spots (or lightly covered wires close to each other or any metal body parts).
Os.

I did notice that if I use the remote, and turn it down the noise disappears, so I could turn it all the way down when not using it.
All my levels are about half right now. I haven't toyed around with tuning it yet.
I will check my speaker connection cables later today and report what I find.
Will the basslink still turn off automatically if Ijust turn the remote gain down?

I pulled out the speaker inputs and checked the wires, and they are good. Since it was out I put the other set of wires in I had. It still has the sound, but it is not as long.
Not sure what to do next, but I did have an idea, when you turn off the radio, does the stock amp still stay on for a few minutes and would that be sending current to the speakers?

With some 2004s the factory amp switches on/off with the HU and NAV. 2005 and up, the amp is on whenever the car is on.
You can tap the factory amp on/off wire and run it to the basslink remote turn on. The factory amp turn on wire is on pin 7 of the small factory amp connector. Use an IDC wire tap to make the connection. The amp is located behind the “Not an Ashtray” and you can find info on amp access in the TSX audio FAQs.
Also, turn down the gain and check the ground.

The quickest solution so far is just to turn down the gain on the remote knob when I leave the car, and the sub will turn off. I am going to run a remote turn on lead and splice into the stock amp. WIll update again once done.

Newbie alert.
I just bought an '04 TSX, but I am an old hand at car audio. I am hearing that I have to pick from only to "balanced" amps if I want to feed off a TSX speaker level input, as in taking the 6x9 leads down to a bass box. Is that true, or can I get any old amp? Is 'basslink' a product or something?

If you are just picking the signals off the 6X9’s then you can use any amp with speaker level inputs or a LOC. The balanced issue is when you remove the factory amp and connect directly to the HU.

Phaedru...
The BassLink is a self-contained sub/amp setup from Infinity. It is designed to easily add low end to factory systems without replacing a lot of stuff or cutting anything...all you have to do is run power from the battery, run a remote turn-on wire (or use the speaker input and auto turn on/off) and run the actual signal cables (use speaker level inputs from rear speakers or splice, or run all the way from the factory head or amp).
I've had my BassLink for several years and have moved it across 3 cars. It's especially useful for people with leased vehicles. The BassLink was discontinued a couple years back, but you can still find them. Infinity replaced it with the BassLink II, but I have no idea what the difference is...you can probably find a lot of info on Crutchfield's site, even if you don't buy it there.
