auto on power inverter
I am installing my new mini ps2 in the glove box this weekend and I want to hardwire my power inverter. Also though I don’t want to have to turn the power inverter on once the car has started. I want the power inverter to have power as soon as the car is turned on so that I can hide the power inverter out of the way. Is it possible to have the power inverter turn on when the car does and if so what do I need to go to get rid of the switch and make it work. It is a 140 watt power inverter.

A toggle switch is like a standard common wall switch for a ceiling light - it's in one of two positions.
A momentary switch is like the horn switch inside the steering wheel - it's only on when you are actually pressing it.
It sounds like you have a hard-wired toggle switch, and then there's internal logic that forces you to push the switch to Off and back to On each time the inverter loses 12V from the car.
There's a mod internal to the inverter that you could do that would break the On signal each time the ignition key is turned back on - it would require that the modifer use some kind of pulse generator like the DEI pulse generator or the PAC TR7 (http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/TR...PAC_p_188.html
But if you don't know the diff between momentary and toggle, sorry, I ain't even trying to tell you how to mod it - it's not your bag. Go to a good stereo shop and the install department can do it for you... for probably under $100 with parts.

ok well i knew what a toggle switch is but i had never heard of the other one being called a momentary on-off switch. i just knew that there are switches you press and they go on only when you press then and there are toggle that you turn on and off or even three way toggles.
if you could explain it to me I would appreciate it cause my grandfather was an electrition for 30 years I am sure he could help me fix it.

Soft Start Technology
I use this one and it works on power up with out resetting the on off switch

it;s strange I have 3 inverters all from different makes and 2 will resume producing 120 on power up and the other will stay in a fault state. I would use the one above because I know I has auto on
