Lightbulb AudioControl Overdrive

I have a 1000watt mono block amp pushing 2 12's and one of the installer recommended me buying the AudioControl OVerdrive to boost the signal from our OEM TL deck. I guess he has indicated to me that this is now very common with any OEM system where ppl just don't want to modify the OEM system to replace with a cd player because it would just look out of place. Therefore, we keep the same OEM deck and run after mkt amps and subs. However when we convert the rear speakers with a line converter to convert to RCA to the amp it would lose a lot of signal causing your after mkt amp to over heat and will not received consistent power thru. So to solve this problem he recommended me this product will cure it and will make the system sound 2-3times louder and cleaner. Is this true??? Anyone experience this product?? THis is only good for after mkt amp and sub only. Here is the link to this product:

It will help, if installed properly. To me, proper install is on the preamp output from the HU to the EOM amp, NOT on an LOC on the speaker wires.

It will NOT make your system 2-3 times louder, however.

So it won't be affective if they took the RCA from the Line Converter to the OverDrive??

One more question is how volts is our OEM giving out.

I guess I don't understand what problem you're trying to solve. Are you hearing excessive noise or distortion? Are your amp's gains turned up too far? Or, are you just afraid that things aren't as ideal as they could be?

Where are your LOCs located? If you're tapping into the rear speakers at the trunk and your amp is in the trunk, then I'm not sure why the signal would need to be boosted, but maybe that's just me.

I don't have a problem but my installer tells me that the signal coming out from our OEM is too weak causing the amp to work extra hard. Plus the base don't seem to be as sharp or clear/tight as my previous system. So he said by using the OVerdrive will be just a good or better compare to using the aft mkt deck pre-amp output. But my 1000watt Alpine M1001 amp does get hot pretty fast even though not turned up. And yes my LOC is tapped off from the rear speakers.

He has a point... of COURSE an LOC loses signal strength.

That isn't a problem usually.. so what is the problem YOU want to solve?

Due to the loss of signal the amp is working harder and the base is not as clean and tight as it should be if I were to use an after mkt deck with pre-amp output. So my question is buying the Overdrive is worth the $$$ to increase the signal to the way it should be?

Do you have access to an aftermarket deck? If so, I would temporarily connect its power and ground to your amp terminals, run an RCA directly into your amp, and see if the bass really sounds thatmuch different.

Might just be your amp and sub and box... but that'll tell ya.
