Anyone has the Alpine CDA-9853

I just bought the Alpine CDA-9853. The installer the factory subs and amp to work in my 99tl-p. The headunit sounds great. But I was wondering in this headunit how do u adjust the treible and the bass? I really need to adjust the treible because the bass is good but the clearity is bad.

My friend has one, and if i am not mistaken you press the volum knob a few times and that should be able to get you to the Treble and Bass controls.

I tried that but it only lets you set the balance and the fade. No treble or bass controls. I'm sure this headunit should have it. I paid 350.00 for it.

Also i can't find it in the manual. Is it possible that this headunit doesn't have it? That would suck wouldn't it?

I don't have the 9853 but I do have the 9851 and on my model you can either push the volume knob in or you can press the mode button in the bottom left corner. If mine has bass, treble, separate sub and hz controls, and BBE I am positive yours must have it as well as yours costs more than mine.

Not sure where you got it installed but it does come with a manual and I made sure my installer put it in the box when I left, perhaps yours didn't put it back in the box? It had some good info regarding mp3s and some other features that I initially didn't realize.

you can find all manuals online - just search for it - also, on my deck, the bass and stuff is on one of those buttons right below the volume knob

I have the manual, I just can't find the treble settings in it.

Yeah i know. I swear...... Its not there. It doesnt have it in the manual. :ugh: I even got my friend to look. I'm not that stupid. Maybe i'm blind or something cuz it doesn't have it. All that is in the manual for sound setting is adjusting:

subwoofer
balance
fader
defeat
volume
band
mix

and alot of other shit, but no treble.

i think in the new higher-end models the phased out the simple Treble and Bass controls in favor of different types of EQ's. I went thru the manual and it looks like you will have to use the EQ and shape the sound, then boost the frequency.

Well the Equalizers allow you to take a specific band of frequencies and adjust their level, i dont know how technical this is, Elduderino or someone will have to chime in here, but i think you need to spend an afternoon and sit down with your manual, in your car with your favorite CDs and just mess around with these EQ settings. And, if you mess up royally, there is always the reset button behind the faceplate  I think you will learn the most that way.

i have a similar model head unit, and i dont understand the eQ

another thing you can play with is the ipersonalize site which lets you adjust your overall eq settings. the annoying part however is that its not a fast change and always stores in EQ6 (at least on my 9833). anyways you can play with it and figure out how what settings relate to what on the headunit. if im not mistaken you can also adjust via pressing the band button and then the ffw/rew track buttons and rotating the knob as well. you're best bet is the manual though as stated by others.

its more than just a simple bass/treble however.

My (9807) Alpine has a setting that, when set, removes bass and treble setting from the menu. All three settings are accessed from the "center" button. I can't remember what it is called but it's something like EQ setting or type. anyhoo, hope you find it

If your HU has a setting for "defeat" make sure it is off. Defeat "on" will nullify (defeat) all equalization settings.
