Amping Stock Speakers?
Hey Guys, I was wondering if running an amp to my stock speakers would help improve sound quality or if its even worth it. I have a small 300w amp laying around and figured I might try hooking it up. But I don't want to put in the effort if theres going to be no results. Thanks.

I think It would be a waste of time and effort IMO. the stock BOSE speakers are designed to run at a lower wattage than most aftermarket speakers. Adding a 300watt amp to power the speakers will probably over power them and possibly cause damage to the speakers. I would save that amp to power some nice components and rear coaxial speakers.

well, if you're adding a 300 watt amp, im sure 35 watts to each speaker at 4 ohms isnt going to kill it. you never know, it might make it sound better in the end. try gettinf a 400 watt, you might like the outcome better. I dont exactly know how much the bose speakers can handle (rms), but id say anywhere around 35-50 is normal

I was just talking with "uncald4" about this very subject, he tells me that a JL 300/4 to the stock bose speakers will make a huge difference, but I also am already running a sub.... just my

I do have a sub and the reason I ask is because the bass is much louder than everything else. The amp I have is an older Jensen 300w. All Iwant is to get my speakers a little louder till I put in an after market receiver and speakers. I figure if its free why not? One question I have is if I could run the power cable from my other amp in the trunk or should I run a completely seperate cable from the battery?

You can turn the gain on your sub amp down some to balance the volume output of your satellites speakers to the sub's output. See how that works. That way, it will save you a lot of time wiring up the Jensen amp. If you really want to install the Jensen, it's best to run a separate power cable, unless you are running a big gauge cable to your sub amp. Then you can run a power distubution block near your amps and split the cables to each amp.

The TL's sound system starts at the deck with a common grounded 2 channel signal. It's fed to a BOSE EQ module right above it. This module tweaks the full range signal into 3 parts. Two parts are the left and right stereo signal with it's high frequencies boosted. The third part is a 60hz and below subwoofer channel. Your left and right signal is sent back to the deck to be amplified and then split into 4 and out to your single cone paper speakers. The subwoofer signal goes straight from the EQ module to the BOSE amplifier behind the passenger side of your back seat and then to your 9" BOSE subwoofer. If you used an aftermarket amp on those factory speakers it would sound like pooh.
The CL starts with the deck sending a 4 channel signal straight to the BOSE amp in your passenger side rear fender area. That amp boosts the full range signal and splits it into 6 speakers. Full range on your rear 6x9's and a split signal between your front component set. This is a much better setup and will sound way better with more juice running the factory speakers.
