to amp or not to amp?
my installer told me that the bose system is very tight. meaning, you can just change little parts of it. i asked about amping, and he said that it might create new problems. should i amp the factory speakers or not? if i do, its going to be an alpine v12. will i get any other problems? before or after factory amp?

Correct me if I am wrong, but probably the most bang for the buck as well as gratifying upgrade to a "Stock" stereo is the additon of a good Sub/Amp combo (in reasonable spec w/stock system: i.e. 100-200watt amp with 10-12" sub for CL/TL's) I know this has made a huge difference for me http://24.128.71.51/album/stereo.htm
As far as amping the stock system speakers, I am under the impression they are of questionable quality and rather low impedance (1-OHM) Much lower than traditional audio equipment.

Are we talking amping the STOCK speakers here? If so, I don't recommend it, but it'll work. You won't get great quality sound out of it cuz of the cheesey speakers that are in the car. I would get aftermarket speakers too. Just my opinion though.

I'd amp now till the factory speakers blow, then i;d replace them. My factory speakers worked well amped, till they blew, that's when i replaced them..
