Amp, HU and SUB with stock spkrs
Amp, HU and SUB with stock spkrs
I have a 99 TL -
I have a 5 channel amp, after market HU and a sub that I would like to install. Would there be any problems running the stock speakers through the new amp. I do plan on getting new door speakers all around but can't at the moment. Does anyone know offhand what the handling power is of the stock speakers. I'm sick of the stock Bose HU as well as the sub.
Thx,
B

The power handling of the stock speakers is about 2 watts more than the factory amp.
Your 7-year-old paper-and-cloth Bose speakers are probably coming apart anyway.
This might not be a bad way for them to go, though

i can tell you with a certainty that the stock speakers can handle about 50w rms if played and tuned correctly. That being said You probably will want to change them b/c even with an amp and new radio, they're still stock speakers and anything stock sucks in comparison to anything aftermarket (as a general rule).
I believe my Nakamichi HU pushes 45 (Maybe 50) per. And my Sound Stream amp pushes 60x4 or 120x4. It's obviously a little more powerful then the stock spkrs, so if they blow, they blow - it'll just give me an excuse to but new spkrs. I think I'll be ok though for the time being.
