Alpine DVA-9860 monitor control lead

The Alpine DVA-9860 has a monitor control lead on the back of the unit that is used for "connecting this to the Monitor Control Lead of the touch panel compatible monitor".

I have the factory navigation screen in 2002 Tl and was wondering if anyone has any experience using the factory monitor to control thier head unit? Which wire (from the NAV unit) would i connect to the head unit?

That wire carries Alpine remote control codes. I can't see it doing what you want. But if you get the Alpine monitor it will fit where yours is backloaded (I've done it: )

The codes are just voltage readings. So if u can match them with the outputs of your screen then yea it's possible.... but it's 1 hell of a job. good luck and post up a DIY when ur done :wish:

Boku, do you have any clue where i would begin? would i need a device to take the input from the monitor and produce and output to send to the monitor control lead?

Also, when i am using the factory navigation, it will be sending signals to the head unit. so the switch that controls the monitor input (avelectronic) will also need to switch on an off the monitor control lead.
