Alpine CDA-9813 w/Alpine Ipod Adapter (KCA-420i)

I have last years alpine deck, the CDA 9813, and trying to get the ipod to interface with it. My friend, an audio installer at circuit city tells me that the KCA-420i alpine ipod interface would work with my deck since I'm capable of playing mp3s, anyone have any experience with this? Any insights on if this will work or not? Thanks in advance.

My friend has that alpine iPod interface and loves it. I thought it was designed for all Alpine decks? It should work, get it. Also, I wouldn't put too much trust in a Circuit City installer.

I spoke to Alpine direct...call them, they'd be more than happy to help out. They told me that the Ipod interface only works on 2004 and younger Alpine models. My headunit is 3 years old so I was SOL. I got lucky and have Aux inputs so I ran the Monster cables and plug directly into my Ipod.

ya just for reference, from reading the numerous search results at ipodlounge, headunits with ai-net and probably mp3 capability are able to use the alpine ipod interface, certain 2003 models do work such as the 9815 and 9813, so it looks like im picking one up tomorrow
