Alarm triggered when changing the battery

Hi, folks:

Weird things happened today when changing the battery for my 99 TL. After I pulled out the dead battery and reconnected the positive terminal with the new one, reconnecting the negative terminal just triggered the car alarm. I am pretty sure the battery was correctly hooked up. Any ideas what might cause this problem and how to deal with it?

Many thanks ahead of time

Ben

its normal if u have an aftermarket alarm. you have to turn it off with the remote or u might have a switch somewhere where u can turn it off and then connect the battery and then turn it on.

Yup, normal. What I would do in the past was disconnect the connector from the alarm controller before I even disconnect my battery. That way I don't get scared when I connect my battery & the siren blasts me in my ears. Then I reconnect the alarm and have my fob ready.
