Aftermarket amp

Hi All,

I have a 2005 Honda Accord Euro spec, which I believe is basically an Acura in the States. Obviously, after sorting out my stupid clutch and the wheel bearing, I will need to start working on its, very poor, "Premium Sound System". In my previous car I had an Alpine HU with a Kenwood amp running Focal components and it sounded awesome. This one doesn't!

So I am left with a dilema. Rip out the factory HU and replace it with the above using a fascia adapter. And, of course, lose the factory look and steering wheel controls. Or get mercman's harness adapter (and BALUN if required - not sure yet) and run the Kenwood amp off the factory's HU. Alpine has a billion settings on cross-overs, equalizers, channel timings, all of which added up to the great sound. Accord's HU has treble, bass, balance and fade settings , all of which won't add up to a great sound. Or will it? All of the speakers will be replaced with Focal components.

How can I order mercman's harness? Can't seem to send PM's yet

Any advice/suggestions/abuse welcome.

CJ

Oh, the amp is KAC-8401 which is here. Don't think this accepts balanced input so I would need the balun unit too.

You'll need to be a registered user for a week and have a few posts before your PMs will turn on. Just be patient for a bit and they will.

Ahh, OK, no problemo. Will be getting my clutch sorted next week and then I am in Atlanta for 2 weeks after that, so would be good if mercman could send to Atlanta to save on postage to UK

In the meantime, I'll just browse around and what other people are up to
