My 2001 cl-s did not come with this cool option. Is there a way to add one to it? Do I need to go to the dealer for it, or can I order it and install it myself?

If you're referring to the OEM Navi, people have done this conversion before. If I recall correctly, it's expensive unless you find a donor car. It's also very complicated since the climate control is built in to the Navi.

In my honest opinion, it's cheaper and makes more sense to buy an aftermarket in-dash Navi. The OEM set-up uses technology from the mid 90's and I believe that Acura doesn't even make new CD's anymore.

It might not look as cool as the integrated OEM screen, but todays navi units are much more advanced. They can hold enough information to cover the whole US plus Canada without having to swap CD's when you travel to different regions. They play DVD's, have iPod integration and back-up cameras built in. They also give you realtime weather and traffic updates just to name a few.

I'd save yourself the trouble of swapping and buy a nice Kenwood or Pioneer in-dash.

I have been looking at the newer kenwood Nav units and really thinking about getting one of them. you can add a backup camera to it and even watch DVD's while sitting still (unless you have the bypass module). cant do that with the stockers and their easy to update unlike the stock ones. My ex had a 2001 TL with the stock Nav unit and it couldn't get you around town without getting lost because of all the road work that had been done in the last 8 years, the new ones will alter the route for you and since it can be updated very easily it has all the recent roads that has been changed. Not to mention you just add a module and get HD radio and even satellite radio through the head unit
