Acura Bose System watts output?

Does anyone know what is the rated watts on the Bose system in the CL-S 01? Also are the speakers in the car Bose drivers or Acura/Honda speakers?

All of the speakers in the 3.2 CL -S are made by Bose but the are paper cone. I know this because I just pulled all of mine out and replaced them. The doors now have Kicker RS6 (6 -1.2")seperates and Diamond M3 (6x9) in the rear. These are powered by an Alpine 307 amplifier. The sound diference is amazing. Note you will have to do some *minor* cutting to get a standard set of 6 1/2" speakers to fit in the door but the tweeters fit perfectly in the stock location. The sound is amazing, night and day difference from stock. I've also included a new deck (Alpine 7965 special order from Alpine) a Kicker ZR360 pushing a Apline 'type R' (dual voice coil) 12" sub in an MDF box. All the custom the work was preformed at a shop in San Jose,CA. Picutures to follow soon.

Can you tell me which shop and the prices you paid for hardware and installation services? Also how long did all the work take?

Thanks...Michael

you probably will never find the power output from the bose amps... and if you did you'd probably laugh your ass off, cause it is no more than 15 watts a channel. Bose has a weird way of working with equalization and matching to make shit products sound somewhat decent. I just say (and I know i'm not alone on this) Bose Blowz!!

No highs?? No bass?? MUST BE BOSE!!

I think those Bose amplifiers are equalized somewhat for the cars. They always sound bass heavy or boomy when compared to an aftermarket amp installed in its place. The wattage probably doesn't matter either, especially if the speakers are 2 ohms.

Michael,
I had pics posted in the "carbon fiber for CL-S" forum and the link is still good but the pics don't show up. You want to go to wireless world on stevens creek blvd, in San Jose. Talk to Josh, he's the general manager and he'll give you a killer deal on the whole set-up plus custom install. the number for the shop is 408-241-4300
hope this helps

Driven,
When you say that the wattage doesn't matter because it's 2 ohms, it that because you can get higher wattage with lower impedence? Or what do you mean? Just curious.

I'm really looking forward to the answer of this question. I'm thinking about changing all 4 speakers without adding the an Amp. Most of my friends say that will give my TLS a very drastic improvement in sound quality.

In a 01 CLS catalogue "The 100-watt Acura Boss Music System features in-dash 6-CD player......."

I certainly hope the HU supports a lot more than 100 watt. Hopefully >200.

Right...the 2ohm spkrs make can make any amp crank out more power. In the case of the factory amp, if it is cranking out 15 or 20 watts per channel at 2 ohms then that amp is really a POS!! That's what I mean. And then, it's a case of comparing apples and oranges because if you're going to replace your factory speakers with aftermarket, which are mainly 4 ohms, then you can't use the Bose amp...you have to get a new amp. BUT, the 2ohm speakers mean that you can push the factory system to its limits by hooking up an aftermarket amp which will really crank out some juice at this lower resistance (assuming it can handle 2 ohm loads and the factory speakers don't get ripped up first, hehehehe)

Well shit,
Depending on how many watts the factory speakers will handle, We might be able to get a better amp and it prolly will sound a lot better or at least louder, right?

Oh man CK, if that's what the catalogue says...then 100 MFR watts equals Maximum output...that means 100watts/4spkrs= 25 watts per channel MAX. So the system, excluding the sub in the TLs to keep things simple, probably does only crank out about 10 to 15 watts RMS per channel.

Just so you know, when I was installing my stuff, I installed the amp first. The factory speakers were still in....I tried listening to it like that and it actually wasn't too bad. I could turn it up pretty loud and it was nice and clear. Still don't know how many watts those Bose speakers can handle though....but from what I've seen they usually keep it down pretty close to whatever the system cranks out, which couldn't be more than 25watts MAX.

I mean the factory system isn't all that bad really. It mostly lacks low bass if I had to criticize only one thing.
