99 TL Navi Hard Drive Died
Hello, my sister's 99 TL Navi Hard Drive Died... Read that you can replace the PCMCIA HD with a PCMCIA Flash Drive (which I have) I can't seem to find the data to put on the drive?
Does anyone know where I can get this?
Also I know that the last update Acura made for the 99 was in 2002. Can I copy the data off my wife's 2009 Civic Navi DVD?
Thanks for you help,

One of your local Acura dealers might still have the region files available.
My local dealer loaded the files on the PCMCIA adapter/512 MB CF card adapter combo for free a couple of years ago.
Some dealers no longer have the files or the computer equipment while others might charge for the service. Call around to see what you can find.
Another option is to buy a pre-assembled unit from Paul Mooney that already has the files installed. Those run about $125, IIRC. See navhelp.com for more info.
For a excellent upgrade, buy one of the DVD-based trunk units from a 2000-2003 TL. It's a Plug-N-Play replacement and you'll be able to get current map data. (Figure on $500 or so for that, including a $200 Nav DVD.)

The acura dealer near me wants $2500 to swap the old navi with a new DVD navi because they don't have the equipment to fix the old one.
I'll have to play with wife's civic DVD navi and see if I can get the data to load on the acura hard drive.

From time to time, forum members have posted the various region files for downloading. Try a Google search of tl.acurazine.com and "PCMCIA".
You might also want to try calling some other dealers in your area.

Thanks
Parent's 99 TL's navigation has been on the fritz and hasn't really worked in over 3-4 years. Really hot summer days and cold nights in winter would either temporarily fix or wreck the sys. The temp control would work but I'd get hard disk failure or hard disk unformatted errors. Bought a replacement drive online, total cost was about 100 bucks, when I get it in the mail I will report back on the results. Thanks for the help
