2nd gen full audio install questions

Hey guys. I have an 03 tl-s (non-navi) and i plan on doing an audio swap. I just picked up 2 10" cvr kicker subs in seperate boxes with a mono amp as well as a 4 channel amp. I also bought four 6.5" polk audio speakers. I plan on replacing all the audio in my car. I just ordered a jvc HU (link below). I have a few questions as to installing everything. I have searched here but haven't found what I'm looking for so I have a few questions. I have a (either 2 guage or 0g i forget) wiring kit.

1) Is the easiest place to get through the firewall above the parking brake? i see the grommet but it is very far up and impossible to get to from the inside. should it come out behind the driver side strut? ive looked for an apparent grommet between the gas and brake but all i see is the steering column. anyone got pics?

2) Am I going to be removing everything that has to do with stock audio? If i take out the bose HU does the eq box come out as well?

3) How much speaker wire should i pick up and what guage?

4) Will I need to do any modding to fit the 6.5" polks? they are the slim mount DB651s (link below)

Thanks a lot guys I appreciate any answers you have.

+1. Make trim rings... It took me 20 mins without proper tools. If i had proper tools it would be a min job. Most semi-decent speakers would require some sort of extra work.

Here is how it looks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QTU8a5R-es

I wrapped them with duct tape to get rid of some resonance.

As for the firewall... Trust me, patience is all it takes... After 10 mins of looking around under the steering column you should find a way to get it in there. Best way is to take a sturdy piece of wire (something that will not twist or fold easily) tie it almost at the tip of your power cable and guide it towards the hole in the firewall.

As for the speaker wire, it depends on how many speakers you are planning to replace. The kind of speakers (coax or comps). It took me 60ft of 16 gauge wire to wire my comps in the front doors (I ran the passive crossovers to the trunk, simply because they are huge)... So if you are installing just front coax, buy 25ft of 16 gauge speaker wire.

when u separate boxes do u mean 2 single 10" boxes

and for the speakers make a bracket so they can fit because IIRC the front is some weird number like 6 something there not really 6.5 but 5.25 and 6.25 will work in our cars

The ebay rings look about right. But making your own is always a better option for a number of reasons which all amount to correct fitment. But if tools are scarce, options are limited

My spacers were 1 inch in thickness... maaaaybe 1 1/4.
