06 TL With Navi: Aftermarket unit possible?
Hi everyone,
I'm sure this is not a new gripe...
I'm looking to get a TL with Navigation, but I want to replace the factory stereo with something that has MP3 support. My concern is that usually auto makers make the two things co-dependent, and I really want to get the factory navigation.
I went to a local dealer, and the sales guy told me that the two things are separate, and therefore, it is possible to install an aftermarket unit without losing the navigation system. The problem is that the salesperson didn't sound too convincing...
Has anyone else tried this? Is it possible? I perused some of the top sticky posts, but they seem to be aimed at the previous model with the Bose sound system.
Your help/feedback is greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,

There is a separate 3G TL AV forum in their section (snobs..: )
I believe that you should get an MP3-compatible DVD player and run it as a slave to the OEM system. You would probably need to tap into the XM line with an AUX3 switcher and that would get you an audio input to the OEM system.

Thanks for the info
Thanks elduderino, I didn't even notice that the 3G buys had their own form
I will check out the option you suggested as well.
