Exclamation 02 TL Bose Sub cracking

I am not sure if this topic has been discussed previously or not...but i have a TL in which the woofer has started cracking recently when turned up all the way. Stock audio system. Car has 57K miles. I couldnt find any information on the internet about the bose warrenty or in the owner's manual for the audio system..but would i be correct to assume that the sub is out of warrenty now since the car has gone over the 50K mile warrenty? If so...does anyone have any idea how much a new 02 TL Bose sub would cost? any links would be appreciated.

Also..i am an idiot when it comes to an audio system. I have no idea how many apms are in the car..i am guessing 1 that is probably a 5 channel? Probably not. But if i were to go with a rockford fosgate 10' sub..could i fit it in the same housing? And woudl i need to change the amp? I have no idea so if somone could break it down in laymans term for me i would appreciate it...I am happy with the existing front and rear speakers..just looking for more bass around 300W. How much would it cost if i were to throw out the bose sub and replace amp? Thanks!!!!

Your sub wont be covered. The sub is an 8" free air sub & for all practical reasons should only be replaced with the same sub unless you go aftermarket, which is what I would recommend.
I have a 99tl & the amp for the sub which is behind the rear seats says its a 100W on it. I would not use it to power anything besides the original sub.

Can you describe in more detail what the "cracking" sounds like? I'm not sure if it's really the sub or not. Would also be difficult to inspect any further than looking up into it from the trunk with a flashlight--since the top is all sealed with a sun-proof fabric.

If it's really the sub, you can have mine--you pay shipping. PM me.
