I wanted to upgrade from the Bose speakers, but learned from this forum that the HU's EQ settings would mess up the sound of new speakers. I do NOT want to buy an aftermarket HU because I don't like the look of it being so small and out of place inside that large space where the current HU sits. So, I was wondering if the Accord's HU (6-Disk In Dash from 01-02) would fit in the Bose's place? It looks to be around the same size. Could there be a way to make it fit?

Just looking for solutions to Bose HU problems. Want to keep that stock look, but also want better sound.

 

I can't answer your question about the Accord HU, but I can give you some other useful info.

The Bose EQ is separate from the headunit, so anything's possible with the stock HU because you have access to the preamp out. It's difficult, and I have a couple threads out there on it.

Even if you replace the HU with one from a Honda, you'll still need to cut into the harness and do some splicing to avoid the Bose EQ. (All the harness data is here on this site if you search for it).

I just upgraded and kept my stock dash, but I can't say for sure I would have done it the same way if I knew how much work it was going to be.

 

picking up straight pre-amp signal (non EQ-ed) from the stock HU is perfectly doable. it just take half a day of work to be done
