I take my car to Grease Monkey and I watch them do the work every time...breathing down their necks to make sure the job was done. I've never had any issues with them so far.

These days it's getting harder to find a reputable mechanic to work on your car honestly. Even the guys that you know are a bit shady. My problem is that i don't trust just anyone, and then the guys i do trust take forever to work on my car. I can't stand that shit. You know me longer than anyone else, and i pay you upfront, yet you take 3 hours to give me an oil change? Screw that. I do most of my own work whenever i can.
A fine example is i was feeling lazy about putting springs and struts on my trans am, so i took it to a shop i know. I wasnt there to watch them do the first strut, but i was there watching them do the second. The way my setup works is that you are supposed to lineup the strut and the tower mount exactly, then bolt it all together. What the asshole did was bolt it together and then he twisted the strut while it was bolted to the $150 mount. I went nuts and asked him what the hell are you doing, that's rubber, it'll tear. And sure enough, it had a crack in it(mind you the mounts were new). I made him take the other side off and it was cracked too. I called the owner over and he was like thats how they were, since they are the originals. His guy was about to say something when i picked up the worn, yet undamaged originals off the floor and showed him. He had this stupid look on his face. I told him to have new ones delivered and i'd wait for them. And to put the car back together and i want a refund. He said no way at first to the refund, and i told him there was no way that i'd feel safe driving the car after they worked on it and if i got into an accident because of suspension failure, they'd be in a lot of shit. He gave me a refund and told me not to come back. I told him not to worry, me and everyone else i knew wouldnt go back to his shop.
