Anyways since we are all discussing this, I think all of us should pick an Acura to nominate for this month. It doesn't matter if you know them or not, if you think their car is worthy, do it. I already nominated civicdrivr, now it's your turn

 

Thats what I did for the first few months. I have had a very busy schedule and an increase of responsibility here at work that has been taking 12 hours of my day every day. So I have been lacking in spreading the word and making nominations. But I think nominating people should be one of my responsibilities on here since I am coordinator.

 

It's not JUST your responsibility to nominate people though. You've taken the time to get the format set up and others should take the time to nominate someone. It took me MAYBE 10 minutes last night to type everything out for civicdrivr's nomination. Other people need to take the initiative.

See the thing is, whatever happened to having your car featured on the front page? No one is interested in going into this part of the forum because when you win, all you get is a thread with your name in a section that no one goes to. If there was a front page feature, then people would be much more interested into coming here and show case their car.

There should be a feature on the homepage for the COTM winner.

 

This is one of the things that I had orginally asked for when we started this. It was supposed to happen, but it seems that it fell of the calendar, not only with the mods but also with myself. I will get in touch with them again to see if its still a possibility for it to happen.

I was also given acurazine shirts and coozies to mail to the winners, I just havent gotten around to that either. Both of these things I promise to take care of this week or the next though.

Curious, did anything ever become of this? Good idea and I agree with the comments about being featured on the home page.

 

Well it was really popular for about 3 months and then it died off.

 

My fault. I have been completely occupied with things going with my life. My job has taken me way away from getting on here and so has another project car of mine. I am now able to get a little bit more free time to participate on this forum and bring this showcase back to life. Its a bit late for the month of July but expect to see something for August.

Who won March and April? Seems like it was a good idea, why did it fall of the map? Shit's weak, thats all...

 

It fell off the map because there wasnt much interest to begin with. I advertised as much as I was allowed to but was limited to only being able to post a thread in every subforum to attract attention. It was good for the first couple of months and interest was lost slowly but surely.

If you have ideas that would help the other members become interested again, I am all ears...... er.... eyes lol.

 

There should most def be more activity for this! Eric aka ACCURATEin should win for the entire year, but still have a monthly showdown to compete.

 

to increase activity we can all promote it using word of mouth or postings in this case...we all spend a lot of time looking in many different forums..so if we see a hot Acura we should tell the owner to consider submitting it here; we have to create a buzz about running for car of the month in other forums so that this one picks up

 

COTM should be the 'Show Piece' for this ENTIRE forum; the homepage should have it front and center and should be a banner item or something similar on each subsection.

This is an ENTHUSIASTS site, no? Why not make it FRONT AND CENTER?

Replace/reutilize the banner space currently used for members pics to feature COTM, make it a centerpiece on the homepage.

The current homepage features a banner of random ass member shots and Yumchas updates about anything and everything that, well, ISN'T Acura related....

 

I agree completely. I don't know what the true direction this site is going. I joined this forum because I was enthusiastic about my TSX, not about Ramblings or anything of that nature. I don't know why this forum isn't focusing more on show casing ACURAS. But I guess that's just my view and the admins have a different direction.

Love the idea of the COTM being on the homepage. And since this is ACURAZINE, only Acuras/Hondas. Why would I come to an Acura website which had a Hyundai on the homepage?
