I communicated with Jonesi today on the ThermoBloc. Turns out there was a stand off on the group buy, but I contacted both Jonesi and Outlaw Engineering and stoked things back up. :spank: :poke:

So stay tuned . . . we do need a commitiment on the BBQ and Beer . . . my thought is we all pitch in the money saved and buy beer and BBQ for this meet. :ponder:

And I'll have to look up the costs on the cooling mods . . . it was around $125-150 . . . the impact of both would give you around 8-14hp . . . depending on outside temps.

Anyways, I now remember what you are talking about. There are a bunch of bad-ass roads around there. The only problem is that they are not exactly smooth as ice. But, fun none-the-less.

By the way, there are tons of other roads that we will have to go on. One of them is Lime Creek:

Not the best pic, but you get the idea!

Note, the 8-14 HP is for both the Scalbert & ThermoBloc mods . . . didn't mean to imply for just the fan switch and thermostat . . . :sorry:

Guys,

This is something we need to check while doing the ThermBloc mod.

Ruf

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109723

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve...no fluids just exhaust.

1. Take off plastic engine shield
2. Unplug EGR
3. Unscrew two nuts holding it on, and replace..

Don't have to do now, but will eventually half to

Take off upper intake manifold, and take a small drill bit and scrape out as much of the gunk from the EGR port as you can. The port is pretty small. You can just follow it from the EGR to find out where it is. DO NOT LET ANY METAL SHAVING STAY IN THE INTAKE, OR GET INTO THE PORTS. Make sure everything is clean before reinstall

Brake upgrade . . . .

Guys, I'm really wanting to do my brakes before the big regional meet and have been looking at several types. So here's what I'm looking at right now. I'm waiting on some additional data, but here's a taste

They have application for various models as well.

http://www.racingbrake.com/rotors.html

Those rotors are $225 for the pair, plus shipping & handling. (Give me your zip code for a shipping quote.) They take about three days for us to get. RacingBrake makes those rotors only in their "UP" configuration, so they have an alloyed, heat-treated iron composition, and curved (instead of straight) internal vanes.

sound sweet don't they . . .

Ruf

RUF87 04-09-2005 10:50 PM

Okay, who's interested on the HP Rotors vs Rotoras.

The Rotoras are cheaper. $155 vs $191 for the HPs.
However, the HPs sound like a better design . . . . so

RUF if your installing I might be down

DarkSithGirl 04-10-2005 02:41 AM

ok..so I am going to get a wild hair up my a$$ and actually talk about the thread subject for a minute....Why don't you guys set up a Houston Meet for every three months? Say maybe the second weekend of every third month. That way everyone knows when it is, people can take off or rearrange their schedules or whatever. Everyone has something to look forward to. Just an idea..That way everyone isn't scrambling to try to set one up.

htown 04-10-2005 03:41 AM

Hey, I would definitely go with the Rotoras, I have those and they grip well with the Axis Ultimate Brake Pads... Although, a LOT of brake dust, it is well worth it, I'm probably going with EBC Brake Pads though, but damn do they stick..

That's a great idea, but I think that everyone just likes kinda livin on the edge... :what:

makes it alittle more racy and fun...:racing:

ya know, I'm all for planning but I think as a group, we are not that organized...at least not yet... :tomato:

I may . . but it'll have to be a separate meet tho . . . if we have 7 cars for the cooling mod meet we'll need the better part of a day . . . depending on who shows up that is . . .

Ruf

RUF87 04-10-2005 09:13 PM

Okay, things may be changing on the rotors . . . 3 good sources are reporting they are happy with the Rotoras and waiting to hear from DeezNuts on his . . . if he's happy, then there's no reason to go with the HPs unless the price is the same . . .
