Yeah the last leg was in Manasass before as well. There's a Wendy's, Pizza Uno's, Cracker Barrel all in the parking lot. Checkers, Mc D's, Popeyes, etc are all right down the street.

Okay, but what I was doing a bad job of asking was - when you get to Front Royal are you stopping at the K-Mart parking lot to let stragglers catch up? This was where I was looking to join the rest of the crowd before we start onto Skyline. Sorry for the confusion I just didn't want to be waiting in the wrong parking lot! And just an FYI - there is a Burger King across the street from K-Mart if anybody wants to wait until Front Royal to eat.

I guess your right I know we did stop at front royal for a bit before we entered Skyline Dr, but I think I was referring to the Manassas shopping center that over looks RT 66 which offers much more room to have a pre meet and grab lunch.

You need to read this thread....Just scroll up I just mentioned we will stop in Front Royal and there you can eat / gas -up etc. We can exchange #'s there but up in the mountains its sometimes hard to get a signal. We will just pull over at certain scenic areas for stragglers to catch up. We dont move too fast thru Skyline Dr. anyway but on Rt. 211 you better put on your helmet homie !!

Your best bet is to top off in Manassas. You never know what the gas prices will be in Front Royal!

I know I'm an AcuraZine newb, but I'm a Moderator and long time member of a Honda message board, Preludepower.com.

A couple of us NoVA area Honda owners may be interested in making this cruise with you guys. I would be taking the S2000. So long as you guys are not anti-non-Acura-badged-Honda.

I frequent Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National park. I live 30 min from the Rt. 211 entrance to Skyline. I have been up there 6 times this summer already.

Allow me to make a suggestion:

Instead of taking Rt.66 West from Manassas (which is a long, boring drive)
Consider instead taking Rt. 29 South to Warrenton, VA where you get on Rt. 211 West and enter Skyline drive that way.
The benefits of this:
1. Less traffic
2. Better scenery
3. THE 211 CLIMB UP THE MOUNTAIN TO SKYLINE DRIVE IS THE BEST CURVES YOU WILL ENCOUNTER ALL DAY! I run my Sport bike up and down that road a lot because it's better curves than you get on skyline drive and entering the drive at 211, there is much less tourist traffic at this location (I'm talking all the little families from DC that go 20 mph on Skyline drive).
4. It really isn't much further at all from manassas than to take the borring I-66 way.

Here's some maps:


Notice the curves! These are MUCH sweeter than Skyline Drive's curves and no cops running radar to get you for going 55 in a 35 since the speed limit on 211 is 45 and going 60 is hauling for these curves!


If you guys take my advice you will return that way every time you go back in the future!

Another thing worth mentioning: On my last Prelude Cruise on Skyline We say a couple cops running radar. keep in mind the speed limit up there is 35 mph the whole way and going 55 or more is a wreckless driving ticket and it's a FEDERAL offense since this is in national park lands! In other words have your fun(aka speeding, running curves) on the way to Skyline Drive, not on it.

Last Skyline meet half the group when the Front Royal route and the other half 211 route do to lack of communication.
I truely agree the curves are better

Those leg captains better have co-pilots or be driving automatics! I don't see us chatting in the corners. Now at 140 mph in the straights we can talk away...mostly about the autos trying to keep up! Haha!!
