First anuual NorCal Sports Car Meet - August 11th

My name is Shumin; representing the Northern California Chapter of the MKIV Club (The 4th Generation Toyota Supra, http://www.mkiv.com/ca). Annually, our counter part in the Southern California region has held the famous Sport Cars meet. I attended my first last year, and had a lot of fun (see for youself at http://proxy.ca.abydos.com/camkiv/meets/scc2000/). This year I'm not able to attend the event down south, anxiety inspired me to bring the event closer to home. So to trigger your interest allow me to introduce and invite you to the first anuual NorCal Sports Car Meet.

I posted this on behalf of my friend who has organized some kick-ass meets in the past. This meet promises to be excellent. Luckily, our Type S's BARELY qualify so we can run, although if you have stock rubber I'd suggest going with the last group to run. Either way, Mt. Hamilton is beautiful and the meet should be a blast.

I'm going to be out of town that weekend, or I would have liked to go to the meet (I live only a few miles from the entrance road up towards Mt. Hamilton). If folks do go to this event, I plead with you all to keep the speeds down up Mt. Hamilton and through Mines Road. The roads are windy and switch to one-lane only (i.e. watch out ahead) for several miles at a time. These roads are used heavily by motorcyclists to zip around away from the crowds, and there are fatalities on these 2 roads pretty much monthly during the spring/summer months.

Have a great time, and stay safe...

Ya, lots of us ride motorcycles as well, so we're pretty familiar with the road. Thanks!

It really is a great road on a motorcycle, except for the crazy amount of gravel that is always present coming down from Mt. Hamilton. One loop that I enjoy even more than the Mines Road part is to go up to Mt. Hamilton, but then hanging a right at the Junction. That road is just about perfect; 20+ miles of deserted, windy, fabulous road, and ends up at I-5. You can take 5 north for about 8-10 miles, then take Copper Canyon Road (or something like that) back into Livermore.

Ride/Drive safe...
