DC/MD/NOVA Meet part 2!!!!!!!!!

Lets try to get this thing started early guys. Lets throw around some ideas now, and fine tune them as we get closer and trhe weather starts to break for the season.

I say lets start shooting for the first weekend in March, and lets throw out some places we could possibly meet at.

1 - University of Maryland College Park Campus
2 - Arundel Mills Mall - again!
3 - Chantilly Expo Center
4 - Camden Yards
5 - Potomac Park in Washington, DC - also known as Hains Point
6 - George Mason University

These are just suggestions, anybody else have any, please post them.

How about one of the regional parks around here. Like Seneca Creek State park in G'burg or Wheaton regional Park in Wheaton. I only mention Md because that's what I'm familiar with but Va. is doable also.

Welcome to the board!

Sheeeit! Seneca Creek State Park is a "hop, skip, and a jump" from my place!

I would avoid Wheaton Regional. I love the place, but trying to find parking is a bitch (unless we held it over at the ballfields (off of Arcola).

Anywhere is good for me. Hell, if I'll drive through snow storm to get to a meet, I'll go just about anywhere.

I know, but I was trying to use a centralized location as to get more CL's to hook up. Maybe over the summer we can do the Meet in the Park BBQ type thing, but first we need to get a few more heads there.

Now, the locations I named are all large areas with adequate parking for a large number of folks, and they are easy to get to by way of an Interstate road.

Lets just start throwing out which sites would be best for us to meet at, and try not to be selfish, it is a DC/MD/NOVA meet with guys and gals coming from all 3 locals.

Dave C, welcome to the board! I'm in the high rent district of downtown Silver Spring, glad to have you on board!

i agree about doing the bbq thing in the summer. it won't be warm enough (knock on wood) come march time. camden yards might be interesting. we could do some racing around there. jfwy. but where ever i pretty much cool with me. i don't mind driving.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I don't acutally own a CL, I've got a 92 Legend sedan. I'm starting to hit up the CL and TL forums for some local meets to get to know some of the other BBA (Big Bodied Acura) owners.

I've been thinking about trying to organize some sort of a BBA meet around June. It would be a sponsored meet (probably at a dealership) including a "fun show", tech sessions, paintless dent removal, food etc. I did a small scale meet last year for Legend and Vigors that brought 17 cars to an independent H-A shop here in Rockville. You can see pics of it here:

http://www.acuralegend.com/legendvigormeet/index.html

Throw in CLs and TLs at a larger venue and it could be a real party with lots of cars.

Perhaps getting a little ahead of myself as a newbie here but wanted to be up front.

For you Rockville area folks my ride's a Phantom Grey Pearl sedan with a two tone (Black/grey) interior showing a Remus exhaust and cleared front end lights. For the winter I'm running the Acura upgrade 15" 5 spokes, come spring the 18" SSR GT1s go back on.

Hope to meet some of you soon.

I say let's meet at Arundel again because nobody the people from all outlying areas didn't even get a chance to make it this time.

We all have directions posted and when the weather was still good there were 22 people signed up to go. I say we have it at Arundel because we've done so much groundwork already for the VA and NJ people.

What ya think!

Great meet too guys! Maybe next time we'll be able to cruise out of there in one group and actually stay together!

This is one crazy group of fellas.
Great pics BTW!

Let's do this again in March!

I don't know where Tyson's corner is but if it's not too far I''ll plan on going. I know the A-TL.com guys are looking to get a meet together for Tyson's Corner and I think we should all set it up together and get a big group again. No use to have small TL and CL meets all the time if we can have much larger joint meets all the time.

Let's do it!
Peace,
N

My guess is that it's about 40-50 minutes from Arundel Mills Mall, depending on how fast you drive, plus traffic. Tyson's Corner is very close to the DC Beltway in Virginia.

I don't mind Tyson's Corner either, but what's the parking like there? The times I've been there shopping, it seemed that alot of the parking lot was taken up with shoppers.

Yeah, Tysons is like 30 minutes from Arundel Mills. It is real close to the Dulles Toll Road, 66, route 7, and 495. The parking at the mall is generally crowded for the most part. The best place to go would probably be on the top level of one of the parking garages. I never see any cars up there.

The top levels are generally empty. I would prefer Tysons this time.

I think this one will go off better. I'm trying to get the TL folks in too.

whatever you all do is cool, i know that Capitol Car Club is having a meet/car show at Burke Lake in Burke, Va. That i beleve is sometime in March if not closer.

the George Mason car show (which is no joke) is decent caliper show that is sponsored by the local autosport companies in North. Va. PHASTCL and myself will be entering our cars in it. This will be in mid April

Tysons mall is a bitch to park at, especially on a saturday with number the cars we have. Fortunetely, there are plenty of office buildings with empty parking lots on the weekends, so you might want to think about that.

Tysons is perfect, we could also go to Vertex Motorsports which is down the street from tysons to get out acura-cl.com kustom stickers. Then probably take a ride !

Hey CLAC225 have i meet you before and what car show!!!!!!!

Any time should be good for me. I was just going off of dajuice's suggestion of the first week in March.

At this meet we can talk about setting up an even bigger summer meet or schedule the drive up to PA for rmstoico's car show.

I think that if we go to Tysons we could get "teamCL" stickers done for those who want them.

First weekend in March, now lets pick a place to meet at.

Check my earlier thread for a few locations, then lets pick the best one for the maximum amount of CL's to meet at from the whole DC/MD/NOVA area.

I say let's do Arundel Mills. The Stadium in Baltimore would be cool too. Unfortunately the NOVA people are not as willing as Baltimore people to drive so I have feeling ther will be a big push to get the meet in their own back yard.

For now I'll go with the flow, but we really should be doing a Northern then Southern meeting place so it's fair to all.

This why I am open to all suggestions as to a place to meet. I can't please everyone, but I do want a large turnout. I am in the middle of NOVA and Baltimore, so it doesn't matter to me. I just want to make sure we coordinate this thing and enjoy ourselves while we meet up.

Wherever this one takes place, the next meet will be in the opposite direction as to please everyone.

As I said before, check my first post for a short list of places to meet.

Tysons Corner could be a good place. We could just meet at the upper level of a parking lot since not many people park all the way up there.

I'm up for Arundel Mills Mall. That place is cool.

Tyson's Corner is also ok (not so fond of being on the top of a garage).

Shit, anywhere is good with me. My car is for driving. It will take me anywhere in the NOVA/DC/MD area (even in snow)!

The first weekend in March is the 2nd and 3rd.

I'm new to the forum, but I'm really anxious to check out other Acuras in the area. Tysons sounds good. GMU would also be a good idea or maybe even Great Falls Park. That one is on the VA and MD border.

Welcome to the boards!

There are a lot of nice CLs in these parts. Do you have any pics to post of your CL? If so, put 'em up!

Check out my links below to see my 1st Gen CL, and the small meet we had last weekend.

Preferred meeting areas:

MD: Rockville, Bethesda, Potomac. Maybe CP. Definitely not Baltimore area.

VA: Tyson's area

Rockville is probably the best place - it's about halfway from everywhere and there's a lot of cars there usually, especially at Starbucks' by the B&N.

Preferred meeting dates:

Weekend of March 22-24th

Hey where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, last night.

Yeah that usually works well. I don't mind driving an hour and ten mins down to Tyson's again. The ride is good and anything is better than Baltimore. :P

I'd like to just register my adament opposition to the date of March 23-25th weekend. I am definitly out of town and if it was made the weekend before that or after that then I will DEFINITLY be there! Please don't make it on the ONLY weekend that I have something planned!

Ok, enough begging.

I'd say any weekend is fine other than the 23-25th.

A cruise sounds great too, start at one point end up at another for some cafe action. Then we can all raid the couches at Barnes and Nobles and have a comfy meet!
