Just thought I'd share my xmas ZDX story,

My older brother just picked up a silver 2012 bmw 650 ($96000) and brought it to xmas dinner with relatives at my parents house and parked it on the driveway. I drove my zdx and parked it on the street.

Relatives came and must have walked by his bmw with no plates and didn't say a thing.

As we were leaving all of my aunties uncles and cousins asked me to stop as I drove past my parents driveway. Seems they wanted to check out my car. They all looked inside asked what it was and what it could do. They were very impressed.

I left with a smile on my face knowing that my ZDX got more attention and compliments than my brothers $96000 brand new bmw 650 sitting on the drive way.

Things I noticed on the bmw vs ZDX ELS stereo is better than $4000 bang and olufsen. BMW had fake Leather on dash. Rear seat on 650 is more useless than zdx. 650 has magneto rehological suspension also. No voice control for IPOD like zdx. 650 was roughly $55000 more than my ZDX.

Here in Dallas, Texas, fancy cars are everywhere.
Seeing so many Escalade and Range Rover on the road, I really thought that they are around $50k - $60k.
Apparently they're around $90k? Yikes!

BMW (3, 5, 6, X5), MB (C, E, ML), Thousand of Lexus, Infinitis; all just swirling around the road.

That's why I put much effort in deciding with the ZDX (Wife wants Lexi RX or GX or Infi QX56). But I totally refused to blend in!! ;-D

People already seen too many of those 'fancy yet so common' vehicles.
But everytime they see the ZDX, most of them usually check out the vehicle front to back, including who's driving this funky car.

I just want to be different (aren't we all?) ;-p

The mighty ZDX strikes again! This happens all over the country, Every guy in a brand new X5 hates his life after I drive by in my better looking, just as well equipped, more reliable, ZDX. All i hear when people are checking out the ride as they glance "oh its an Acura..."

Haha I was one of those x5 drivers. I had an 08 x5 before. The x5 had less features and didnt drive as well. Stereo sucked and the ride was horrible for a suv that didnt even handle well (Xdrive sucks compared to SH-AWD). Not to mention it had no power because it was before they put the 300 hp turbo motor. Honestly the x5 had a lower msrp than the zdx though. I swallowed my bmw pride and got my butt back into "oh its an Acura" and dont regret it at all.

everyone has their own taste of cars not to bash on u OP but i think the ZDX is pretty ugly sorry but thats me. the new BMW 650i to me its a sexy looking car but in the end u can't compare a ZDX and a 650i their 2 different type of cars a CUV and a luxury sports car. I'll take the 650i over the ZDX all day

I get to drive both the 650 and the zdx and live in paradise you can't bash me bro. And hope you don't think I was bashing on the 650 cause honestly I told my brother to lease that car cause it is beautiful. You are right everyone has their own taste. I just wanted to share what happened on my xmas that made me happy. I think if you like the 650 you should buy one. That's why I bought my ZDX and talk with people on this forum about it. Cause it makes me happy.

Just be happy and be happy for other people. Peace out bro. Hope you have a good new year and maybe a new 650 in the garage for 2012..

im glad that your happy with the ZDX even if i can afford a 650i its no use for me since i have my own family all my wife will let me get is a family car FML.... BTW happy new years to u 2 bro!

A few months back, I was invited by BMW to test drive this 2012 650i in a driving event
(Since I signed up like crazy with these auto makers - Audi, BMW, MB, Lexus, etc, I got invited everytime... ;-)

I must say that I'm a bit disappointed with BMW's decision to 'twin-turbo' (almost) all their engines. Then again, I'm a fan of NA engines.
I was given the key to the brand new 650i convertible and then let loose... for about 25 minutes, driving around Dallas by myself.
While the car looks nice (although for $105k, I'll pick up a 911/Panamera), the ride is a bit unsettling (too much electronic?)
And what makes me crazy was that, after every red light, if I wanted to go a bit fast(er), punch a throttle, there is a lag for about a second before the turbo kicked-in...
Everytime...

For 2012, BMW even change the 528i and the new 3 series with 2.0 Turbo engine...
I miss old BMWs...
