Went to purchase ZDX in NJ last week
So I went to Bridgewater Acura back on December 19th to check out and hopefully buy the ZDX tech package, looking to get Ionized Bronze with Umber leather interior, they told me they dont have any in stock, any in transit and wont get their first car until mid-january and that wouldnt be for sale. Ok so I decided to wait and stick it out...
January 4th the dealer calls to tell me they got a ZDX that they were given the green light to sell to come down and check it out and test drive it. I went down and saw a white ZDX with advanced package, with the grey interior. The interior was DIRTY as hell from people sitting in it and driving it. The drive itself is ok, I have a 2007 TL and I like Acura, however something about the drive of the ZDX I didnt like, I wasnt feeling it. Anyway after the test drive we went to the salesmens' desk who then told me that since its a new model, new year, they will not negotiate, they are asking for a $3000 markup because the car is in "high demand" and my choice of bronze and umber isnt scheduled to be shipped anytime soon, not until march at the earliest. I politely said thank you and walked out....i will not be going back.
SO long story short I dont know what I am going to end up getting, but $3000 markup, zero financing offers and no exact delivery date, no thank you.
Anyone else have this kind of problem when talking to the dealers for the car?

Just Wait
Unless this car is a runaway hit, I suspect there to be incentives in a few months. It also would not surprise me if they started selling them @ or below invoice. If you wait long enough, the sales person will probably start contacting you, in which case the negotiating power shifts in your direction.
This same situation happened to someone I know back in 2006 when the MDX 1st came out: sales people were not budging but after a few months, discounts everywhere.
Did you try the car in the "sport mode" ... that may make it more like your TL. Also if you are interested in the Tech Pckg, I would pass on that ZDX bc the Advanced Package is an extra $6k ... nevermind it being the wrong color.

It's funny that the local ones that arrived within the last month were ALL ionized bronze with umber interior. So they all got shipped to Ohio instead, huh? ROTFLOL
Maybe they thought that you looked too young to have the money to own one!? :-)

I hate that dealership. I live 10 minutes from Bridgewater Acura, but instead travel 50 minutes south to Precision Acura in Princeton for service. I would try them instead. Much friendlier, much better service. I can't say enough about them.
I was actually just in Bridgewater Acura last week to purchase a bulb for my rear brake light. I didn't even like the place in the 10 minutes I was there. The people are just rude.

Went to the dealer today to have my TL serviced, they had 1 ZDX in the lot as a tester but it was 19 degrees for a high today in Boston so didn't get to examine it much, no showroom model, I do not understand why Acura chooses the ugliest color combination's as a demos, Grigio with the Taupe interior, umber is the sexy interior color to attract buyers IMHO, one customer I overheard commenting about the lack of backseat room unless they market the vehicle correctly it will be a flop. I will say though if the next RL gets in Acura's design studio it will be a killer sedan, the ZDX brochure gives a full run down on the attention to detail that was put into the vehicle.

Since you mentioned that i saw the Challenger in Aug08 being driven prob by some big wig from Dodge and there was a sticker on the passenger side of the windshield that said markup 11K
should have taken a pic because it sounds unreal but i swear on my kids

Backs the Pack
Dealer mark-ups are ubiquitous. When it first came out people were paying $10k over sticker for the PT Cruiser. Camaro's, Prius', etc also have been marked up.
I'm surprised the dealer is asking so much. It reminds me when the 2009 Pilots first came out, the Honda dude was acting hard and saying maybe we can get you a few hundred off sticker and how the first 6 were pre-sold.
A month later he's calling me saying they are having a big sale on all Honda's and to come check out the Pilot. Wish I could have seen his face when I told him I had already bought the MDX.

Holy shit I cant believe people paid 10K over sticker for the PT LOSER They are POS's from the jump. The 2.4L turbo was fun to drive but only in 1st & 2nd gear after that it was :thumbsdow

Damn straight! I've made a lot of cash selling over MSRP. I've sold TLs for over MSRP when they first came out, C300s and C63s over MSRP.
If the customer wants the car badly enough they will pay over MSRP and won't have a problem with it. Some dealerships have a policy that says nothing over MSRP. Fortunately I've never worked for such a place.

When The M3 was getting redond people on Ebay where charging $10,000 for there place in line to get the car and getting it!!
If the car was woth the price then I would see a $3000 mark up but for me I think the sticker is absurd!
I hope the new m37 is a hit when we get it in March so I can make some coin marking them up but I doubt it cuz Infiniti already has lease programs waiting!

Wait a couple years. I'm betting you will be able to find a ZDX easily. I don't see any practicality in that vehicle.
